Team from UAE to visit Dominica to assist in digitization efforts

Prime Minister Skerrit

Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit has announced that a team from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will visit Dominica next month to assist in the island’s efforts towards digitization.

He made the disclosure during a press conference held at the Ministry of Finance Conference Room on Monday.

The prime minister attended a summit in the UAE last week where focus was placed on innovation, tourism,  climate change, and financing of global initiatives.

According to him, this participation highlighted the need for continued multilateralism in addressing global issues.

He said the participation in the UAE was very important as he had the opportunity to  interact with leaders and business people, “and to let them know that, yes, we may have some vulnerabilities brought on by climate change and external shocks, but there are opportunities for investment.”

“One of the things that we got off, from the Government of the UAE:  they will be sending a team to us in March of this year to look at our efforts towards the sensitization of Dominica and to see where the gaps are in our strategy and our national plan and to see how they can assist us…,” he said.

He is of the view that Dominica should go deeper in terms of its digitization project, “and so they will be coming in to look at this and the whole idea of using technology in every sphere of society.”

Skerrit continued, “At the airports, at the hospitals, in our schools–not only telling a child that you have a laptop, but how do you use that laptop?”

He added, “We have to come to a point where technology is properly immersed in society.”

Your roads, bridges, schools and hospitals are falling apart. You barely have a population or an economy. You want to digitalize what? Trafalgar Falls? Roseau river? Pit latrines? Dude you are an idiot and your priorities are all wrong. Twenty-five years of Labour, the country has not moved, sports people cannot use a stadium, in a country where people celebrate an airline arrival as if we are in the 1960s and 1970s era of the Geest Line ships to England while every Caribbean island boasts an international airport! In 2014 you told us we did not need one! Now Dominicans are left behind in the Caribbean, led by fools enriching themselves.
Build industry, the economy, create employment. Oh, it’s too late for you. You have already expired your useful date!

We just might, you know. Considering the mountain of opposition forces against this airport, a national holiday to celebrate its triumphant opening would be fitting; well, after we rename it the Roosevelt Skerrit International Airport (RSIA).

TOUFAY, TOUFAY. It’s eating you guys alive that this BIG plane was able to land at Douglas Charles airport in Dominica without incident and that’s the reason you guys keep mentioning it especially in this negative way. Some persons even referred to the 737 aircraft as a small plane. Imagine that. Hope you’all don’t suffer heart attacks when the international airport commences operation. It’s coming soon.

Learn to read and understand what is written before responding. Where in my comment did I wish heart attacks on anyone? My comment clearly stated “hope you all don’t”, go back and take a look. You are writing something which is false even when everyone can see what was written. HORRIBLE…
