The construction of the new Wesley Primary School, “is on its way.”
This was according to Parliamentary Representative of the Wesley Constituency Fidel Grant, during the 2025-2026 Budget debate on Tuesday.
He added that the school will be constructed in Londonderry.
“Over the last few weeks, the Wesley Primary School–we had to relocate on a shift system to the Northeast Comprehensive School,” Grant said. “ We heard the announcement from the Honourable Prime Minister [and] we are in discussions with the Ministry of Education, and we will be constructing a brand new Wesley Primary School at Londonderry.”
He continued, “ I have seen the designs. It is a brand new, much improved space for our children within the constituency.”
Some persons have expressed concern that the school will be outside of the village, however, Grant assured the parents that “this is not so”.
“For those of us who know the area well, where the lab is located now, we will be joining that Road to the Joe Burton Road so children can commute easily to and from the village,” he explained.
Meanwhile, Grant explained that presently concerns have been raised as it relates to having large amounts of vegetation in the area, “and we are going to have small children [there].”
“The entire site is being cleared, and construction of the new Wesley Primary School is on its way,” he stated.
