Thirty-nine police officers promoted to various ranks

Acting Police Chief Lincoln Corbette addressing press conference

A total of 39 police officers have been promoted to various ranks within the Dominica Police Force.

Acting Chief of Police Lincoln Corbette reported during a recent press conference that the promotions were made by the police service commission and the Chief of Police.

“The police service commission met on Tuesday [last week] and, based on the recommendations that were sent to them and also acting on their own deliberate judgement, promoted 19 officers in various ranks…,” he said.

“Inspector [Alleyne] Maximea has been promoted to the rank of ACP [Assistant Commissioner of Police]. So, we now have our full complement of ranks  from commissioner all the way down to the last corporal, some of them in acting capacity.”

He continued, “ So, Inspector Maximea,  as I said, is acting ACP until December 6 of this year. “

According to Corbette, two ASPs [Assistant Superintendent of Police] were also promoted to the rank of Superintendent, three inspectors to the rank of ASP, six sergeants to the rank of acting inspectors, and seven corporals to the rank of sergeant.

“All these are in acting capacity,” he stated. “We have also sent to the commission names for confirmation, and we expect in a short order that we will get those officers.”

Additionally, Corbette noted that he has appointed two officers to the position of corporal and 18 officers to acting corporal.

“So that brings the total of 39 officers who have been promoted,” he revealed.

Meanwhile, Corbette said the Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force (CDPF) is in the process of accepting new applications for entry to the police force.

He urged men and women between the ages of 18 and 30 years, to apply.

“The force is a very good place to work…,” he stated. “ Give us 10 years, 15 years, and move on if you have to, but we are really looking for people [of] good caliber, bright people to join the force.”

Is that the only job openings that the civil service has. Police. police and more police. Corbette is asking for men of good calibre and smart. If they are to be of good calibre and smart like you Corbette ( son of the only KKK of Dominica) well doom, doom to this Dominica police force. Give the public an exhibition view of the calibre of writing and spelling in the front desk diary and one will figure the calibre you are asking for. Until No diaper Backdoor and gun slinger Dahwoo vacate themselves in the selection of recruits they maybe all will be well with the CDPF.

Sometimes I agree with MEME and Ibo.In the 70’s and 80’s one police constable was equivalent to 5 inspectors today. An inspector today cannot prepare and complete an indictable case file. The CID was so efficient that no habitual criminal, rogues and vagabond could walk the streets of Roseau after 21.00hrs,as I understand it today it’s my parl rep send me,accompanied by a letter bs,90% of police officers do not even know the damn beat, there are no beat police it’s a shame. In the 70’s and 80’s the recruitment of police officers had nothing to do with parl rep.I do not know who is on the police service commission, what I know some police officers who are supporters of UWP are victimised. As a former police officer who risked my life for Dominica, not promoting a hard working police officer and promoting a SLACKER is unfair.,it hurts me.That is why criminals commit crimes and walk away too much F politics. As for you Bob 97% of Dominicans can read and write,I hope you are not in the 3%..

All thirty nine officers have shown unequivocal dedication not to the protection of the citizenry but to oligarchic Roosevelt, his extravagant, ornamental wife and his overly pampered children.

Police officers should be recruited from the best of society. Those in Dominica are mostly school dropouts, ruffians and bumpkins.

The more promotions i hear off, the sloppier the work done by the CDPF. I have long described the force as a failed institution, because it has been heavily infested with politics. Instead of being the peoples police force, it’s more like a force beholden to corrupt men and women in jacket and tie.
The force lacks leadership, and as i have intimated adnauseam, to have a proper CDPF, top leadership should be paid and sent home. Because of poor leadership, those police stooges have made about half the population their enemies. Were any of the promotions on merit? Who is the head of the police commission? Is the person apolitical?
Man this once revered CDPF has done so much injustice to the real police force of the 70’s 80′ and 90’s.
All officers of the this era would have arrested some of our corrupt leaders who dress in jacket and tie, but are sticky fingered thieves.

Interesting you did not put names. when Clarence Christian and Cecil joeseph are on police service commission we know what to expect. Obsequious butt kisses who spend thier entire time running behind skerrit holding umbrella climb the ladder roting the head even more. These sycophants expect dominica to trust the police force when it’s leadership is not competent. The chief involved in illegal smuggling, his PIK now climbing rank and senior officers who can only shout dont obstruct me from doing my duties get sued in court, implicated in theft, and did not show up for court ordered case. How are these guys expecting to instill discipline when they do not understand thier responsibility on the grand scheme of things. I would like to ask why is there no testing to ensure those promoted have the mental capacity for the position? Men who cannot give a darn court statement, cannot put two sentences together and cannot understand a 6th grade passage are now leading a legal institution.
