Three fatalities in Dominica this week due to road collisions

(L-R) Kervin Maximea, Robert Andrew Jr, Imogen Peters

Customs officer Kervin Maximea, social media personality Robert Andrew Jr and 16-year-old Imogen Peters are these week’s ill-fated victims who succumbed to injuries sustained during road collisions.

On the evening of November 1, 2022, Maximea who was riding his motorcycle along the Dublanc highway collided with a van and as a result, he sustained serious injuries to the head.

He was transported to the Dominica China Friendship Hospital (DCFH) where he remained as a patient in critical condition until November 4, when he was flown abroad for further medical care.

Days later –November 7 – Maximea succumbed to his injuries.

Another death which has been marked with profound sadness is that of Andrew.

On November 6, 2022, many took to social media to express their grief and sadness over the passing of the Portsmouth man known to many as Junior and to his Facebook fans as “Mr. President of United States of Dominica”.

Reports indicate that on November 2, Andrew was struck by a van in the community of Portsmouth which caused life-threatening injuries.

He was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the DCFH but died only four days later.

The latest victim, 16-year-old Peters died on November 8, 2022.

On the aforementioned night, Peters was riding a motorcycle in Bath Estate sometime after 7:00 p.m, when he collided with a pedestrian.

The teenager sustained severe injuries to his chest and head and was subsequently transported to the DCFH where he succumbed to his injuries.

Dominica News Online (DNO) has since received confirmation from police sources that the pedestrian who has been identified as a Vielle Case man is in stable condition nursing his injuries at the hospital.

Police sources have also indicated that a full investigation has been launched into these road fatalities.

DNO will continue to follow these stories and report any new development.

Skerrit keep calling on the Americans to release the lifelong embargo they have on cuba…and simple traffic laws he cannot enforce in his own country..

Oh my God, when will this government enforce the laws and make it mandatory for riders of motor cycles to wear their helmets and other safety riding gears….the helmet could have saved their lives…they riding with no regard for themselves much less for pedestrians going about their normal business..Lord help us..

The network of roads on island is not designed for speeding. Motorcyclists, in particular, should always wear a protective helmet. One has to always with caution. Too many young people in the prime of their !gives are succumbing to life threatening injuries on these roads.

Take caution drivers. Remember, more haste less speed.

More development more traffic accidents and more deaths.According to the traffic police> there are more than 37,000(motorcycles included) registered vehicles in Dominica,in a population of 72,000.

Hahahaha, that’s a good one. So the traffic accidents and resulting death must be sky high in the USA or Germany for example. Not so! But your above comment clearly confirms what I knew all along, that you are short of a few screws. Keep on defending the indefensible even if it’s utter nonsense you come out with in the process. Typical Skerrit disciple.

Hello and good afternoon my people. I want to offer my condolences to the victims family. Now, getting seriously sick in Dominica and going to this hospital is just a disaster. We don’t have a Trauma Unit where they can perform critical surgeries for such vehicle accidents and many of the motorcycle riders don’t wear helmets. We need to strictly enforce the Traffic Rules & Regulations in regards to motorcycles which would decrease such accidents and death. The politicians in Dominica know that if they get sick they must leave and seek medical care abroad so just look at their prior statements and action.

This is sad for the family members left behind to deal with these loses.
However, nobody ever talks about road safety and the fact that some drivers drive like lunatics on the road. I saw a vehicle overtake 5 other vehicles. His vehicle just missed an oncoming car by inches. This matter HAS to be addressed – no matter what side of the political table you’re on.
Make everyone feel safer on these roads!!

Condolences to the family. Helmet laws should apply to everyone who decides to ride a motorcycle. Unless its already implemented on the Island. Most of the time passengers and operators are not wearing helmets.

Dominicans must re-thing the rules and reglulations that apply to motorists safety. Implement now — immediatedly — legal requirement to have a full face safety helmet when riding a motorcylce and mandatory use of seat-belts in cars. It will safe lives. My condolenses to those young mens’ families and friends.

Something is very wrong in Dominica with the man gender. Stop looking at it in the flesh and those of us that can see in the Spirit. The devil is sacrificing our men in Dominica. Parents please cover your children especially your Male children.

My deepest sympathy to the family and friends of all three gentlemen. I pray God’s grace over them.

But what caught my attention Is the injury and passing of customs officer Kervin Maximea and Robert Andrew .
On the evening of November 1, 2022, Maximea collided with a van and sustained serious injuries to the head. Note: he was taken to the state of the art China/ Skerrit hospital and stayed there until Nov4, when he was flown abroad for further medical care. On Nov 7, he died. In other words 1. He was too badly off to be flown abroad 2. The Skerrit/ China hospital kept him for 4 days but couldn’t help him 3. He was flown out too late.

Robert Andrew, was struck by a van on Nov 2, and sustained life-threatening injuries. He was taken to the Skerrit/ China hospital and died 4 days later.
These two deaths remind me of Skerrit mocked us during the 2019 stealection “ I have insurance and can fly my family abroad if they get sick. But what about you?” Another election and nothing…

Lord help us!!!!Why everything has to do with politics. My goodness why can’t we try to reach out to the deceased family. What does Red or Blue have to do with any thing. Dominica what have you become.
LORD HELP US> Why on God’s world have we become so hard at Spirit. When you said I Pray God’s Grace Over them. I hope you were not referring to the dead. God’s Grace is not for the Dead. We need to get our hearts right any moment we can be standing before GOD… Stop that hatred!!!!! Religious Spirit don’t work very well with me…. Be Spiritual not Religious.

Well said! TRUTH that is indisputable.

Roosevelt bamboozled the Dominican electorate by dangling this ‘state of the art trinket ‘ (DCFH) just before the last general election. If I am not mistaken, we were told that no longer we will have to seek medical treatment abroad. Just another dastardly lie in Roosevelt’s arsenal to trick the unsuspecting electors to hand him their vote.

Sad sad sad…….I said that before and will say it again even if some don’t like it. These deaths are disturbing not only because they all were taken to the DCFH where people actually go to die, but I am asking; is there a curse on our land? Are these sacrifices to the angel of death? Is it coincidence that elections were called soon thereafter on a date that the number is found in the mark of the beast? God pleaseeee put a hand
