Three individuals receive the DAA Dominica Athletic Legacy Scholarship

The Dominica Athletics Association (DAA) presented the first-ever DAA Athletic Legacy Scholarship to three student-athletes. Taking place on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at 10:00 AM, inside the Dominica Olympic Committee (DOC) Conference Room, the recipients officially accepted their scholarships during a formal signing and distribution event.

DAA reported that this initiative marks the debut of its scholarship program, which aims to assist young athletes in Dominica who show commitment to their sport, academic potential, and financial necessity. Each of the three selected students received EC $1,000 to help cover educational costs such as tuition, textbooks, uniforms, and other supplies. The scholarship recipients are:

– Da’Jeannic Didier from Wesmar Rangers Athletics Club
– Niola Alleyne from Striderz Athletics Club
– Keyoni Esprit from Pioneers Athletics Club

The Dominica Athletic Legacy Scholarship is financed through contributions from former and current national athletes, who have united to support the development of youth and sports in Dominica. These contributors will also act as mentors for the scholarship recipients.

The DAA shared that it plans to make this scholarship an annual program, inviting more national athletes to participate and contribute. The goal is to ensure that upcoming generations of student-athletes continue to receive the necessary backing to succeed both academically and in their athletic pursuits.

Well done guys. As i have already stated myriad times on this medium, anything which will positively impact our young people to be better at their craft, or to be a better citizen, will get my THUMBS UP!
I wish they take advantage of the opportunity.
