On behalf of her Ministry, Minister for Tourism, International Transport and Maritime Initiatives, Honorable Denise Charles Pemberton has endorsed and commended author/photographer Cecil Clarke on the publication of his second Coffee Table Book edition.
At Sunset on Tuesday, April 23, The Realm hosted the official launching of ‘Dominica – The Best Kept Secret’, a book aimed at “capturing moments, building unity, arts and culture.” It offers 304 pages of the island’s essence and rich heritage through culture, architecture, cuisine, and its people mostly through Clarke’s impeccable and vivid photography which he describes as “a harmonious blend between art and science.”
In Hon. Pemberton’s address, she named ‘The Best Kept Secret’ “a work of art” expressing her satisfaction with its
ability to highlight the essence of Dominica from several key aspects.
“It is a perfect keepsake for visitors, so they can always re-immerse themselves in our culture, heritage, and beauty through every page of the Coffee Table Book.”
She continued to celebrate the author for his indirect contribution to tourism.
“Your work, Cecil, will certainly contribute to our drive to keep Dominica the number one destination in our region.”
“This Coffee Table Book will certainly invite new travelers to put Dominica as a ‘must-see’ destination on their bucket list,” the tourism minister continued to encourage the purchase and support of Clarke’s publication. Commending his work, she stressed, “Mr Clarke, well done, very well done! All the best to you.”
In 2008 the renowned forty-year photographer and owner of Eve’s Photo published his first edition of The Coffee Table Book, ‘Dominica: An Invitation to Indulge’ and is also responsible for publishing local souvenirs in the form of postcards, table mats, and playing cards.
