Tourism minister reports increase in visitor arrivals at this year’s WCMF

Tourism Minister Denise Charles-Pemberton has reported a 12 percent increase in visitor arrivals during the 24th Edition of the World Creole Music Festival (WCMF).

She made the announcement via press statement.

“October 2024 arrivals surpassed 2023 figures by 12 percent and 2019 figures by 4 percent,” she said. “Preliminary figures indicate that ticket sales increased by 4 percent and ticket revenue increased by 16 percent over 2023.”

Charles-Pemberton continued, “We remain committed to boosting arrivals to Dominica year-round and during our festive season as part of our ongoing efforts to expand our events and festival pillar.”

Furthermore, she reported on the success of the WCMF this year which once again showcased Dominica’s vibrant culture and rich musical heritage.

“This year’s festival [attracted] thousands of visitors around the world,” she stated. “We witnessed a significant boost in local business including hotels, restaurants, and transportation, further stimulating our economy.”

Charles-Pemberton, mentioned also that the WCMF continues to reinforce Dominica’s reputation as a premier cultural destination and emphasizes the importance of tourism in the country’s national development.

“We are very pleased with the numbers,” she indicated.

She expressed her heartfelt gratitude to all who contributed to the success of the festival.

Meanwhile, Charles-Pemberton revealed that a special committee will be set up to plan for next year’s festival.

“We are getting ready for 2025, our silver jubilee year and we can’t wait to start planning for this milestone edition of our festival,” she revealed. “As we reflect on our 25 years we will set up a special committee to plan for this occasion.”

Charles-Pemberton added, “I am confident we will elevate the World Creole Music Festival to even greater heights in the years to come and expect 2025 to be  the best year.”

She encouraged visitors and Dominicans living abroad to start booking their flights for next year’s festival.

    That is the level of disrespect these folks have for Dominicans. Denise present the figures and we can calculate for ourselves the variables and variations by years. we not all stupid. you guys lie so much nothing can be trusted coming from yall mouth. what percentage of sales was gov purchase compared to past years? what is the inland revenue report on tax reciept? That you would not k ow so soon. how many vendors go license compared to ast year? what are the number of people arriving ar the different legal ports of entry? I am not asking for made up numbers. This info should come from ports not you simply because you guys cannot be trusted.
