A DDA press release said the event will take place at Jungle Bay and is themed “The Importance of Sustainability and the Green Destination Certification.”

As part of Tourism Awareness Month 2025, this discussion aims to bring together prominent figures from the tourism sector, environmental sustainability advocates, and destination development experts to explore Dominica’s journey toward achieving Green Destination certification. The event will highlight the vital role that sustainable practices play in shaping the future of the island’s tourism industry.

The panel will feature distinguished speakers, including:

– Kennedy Pemberton, Director of Operations, Green Case Sustainable Tourism
– Lucien Blackmoore, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Environment

During the discussion, policymakers, industry leaders, and community stakeholders will engage in dialogue, emphasizing Dominica’s dedication to safeguarding its natural environment while promoting economic growth through tourism.

Marva Williams, CEO and Director of Tourism at Discover Dominica Authority, underscored the importance of sustainability, stating, “Sustainability is no longer optional—it is essential. Dominica is aspiring to become a Green Destination and we are setting the standard for what it means to build a tourism sector rooted in respect for nature, culture, and community. This panel discussion marks a critical step in advancing our mission to protect what makes Dominica unique, while creating opportunities for future generations to thrive through tourism.”

Participation in the event is free and open to the public, though registration is required.

Thanks Marva. I hope the man who preceded you in your current position is learning from you. I see you as the next Minister of Tourism and Urban Development in a Team Dca Government. By the way, where is Uncle Pipe-her? Is he in prison somewhere or out there playing consultant to an unsuspecting government?

We need you in the Petite Savanne constituency, as an opposition candidate, or if you choose too, as an independent candidate.
You certainly don’t look like someone that will and should side with any highly corrupt political organisation.
From the time you say yes, we have already assembled avteam from Bellevue, Pichelin and Petite Savanne. Your work will be light.
