Bouyon artiste Gael ‘Trilla G’ Jno Baptiste from Dominica has accepted the opportunity to reclaim his position in the Ultimate Soca Champion 2025 competition, setting the stage for an electrifying semi-final round.
According to a press release, Trilla G accepted that opportunity following a decision made by Veteran Soca Artiste “Iwer” George who officially withdrew from that competition.
The Dominican artist had recently announced his withdrawal from the competition. His announcement was reportedly met with speculation and assumptions from the public. The artiste’s team promptly issued a statement to clarify the situation, confirming the withdrawal while addressing the circulating rumors they deemed “false.”
Trilla G will perform the popular song “Someone Else” (Littleboy ft Quan & Trilla G).
In light of recent developments in the Ultimate Soca Champion Competition, veteran musician Gordon Henderson publicly voiced his support for Trilla G.
Henderson took to FaceBook on Thursday to highlight what he sees as the significance of Trilla G’s participation, not just for the artist, but for the broader Dominican music community as well.
Henderson, who has enjoyed a long and distinguished career as Exile One frontman, and solo artist, expressed his deep concern over Trilla G’s withdrawal, stating, “I want to express my heartfelt appeal for Trilla-G’s reinstatement in the Caribbean Soca competition.”
He articulated that the loss of Trilla G from the event represents a missed opportunity for Dominica to shine on a larger stage, emphasizing the potential impact on Bouyon music and the Dominican community.
The Ultimate Soca Champion Semi-Finals is scheduled for Sunday, February 9, 2025, at the Naparima Bowl Amphitheatre in San Fernando. Gates open at 5 PM with showtime at 7 PM.
