Trump hints at imminent expansion of U.S. travel ban list following national guard shooting incident

The Trump administration is actively contemplating the expansion of its travel restrictions to include additional nations following the recent incident in Washington D.C., where two National Guard personnel were shot last week. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem revealed on Monday via a post on X that she had just met with the U.S. President and is now advising a comprehensive travel ban on every country that has been contributing to the influx of what she labelled as criminals, parasites, and individuals with a sense of entitlement.

“I am recommending a full travel ban on every damn country that’s been flooding our nation with killers, leeches, and entitlement junkies,” she stated.

Earlier this summer, President Trump announced a new travel restriction targeting 19 countries, representing an intensification of his immigration enforcement efforts within the United States. The list from June 2025 includes the following nations, with seven under partial travel restrictions, meaning that citizens from these countries face limitations on certain types of visas:

– Afghanistan
– Burundi (partial ban only)
– Chad
– Cuba (partial ban only)
– Republic of Congo
– Eritrea
– Equatorial Guinea
– Laos (partial ban only)
– Myanmar
– Haiti
– Iran
– Libya
– Sierra Leone (partial ban only)
– Somalia
– Sudan
– Togo (partial ban only)
– Turkmenistan (partial ban only)
– Venezuela (partial ban only)
– Yemen

According to a Newsweek article, following the identification of the suspect in last week’s shooting—an Afghan national aged 29—Trump hinted at a possible broadening of the administration’s immigration restrictions. Noem has not yet specified which additional countries might be included in this expanded travel ban, and neither has Trump.

The U.S. government was already in the process of exploring an expansion of the June 2025 travel ban to encompass 36 more countries, 24 of which are in sub-Saharan Africa. This information was leaked to the media via the Associated Press. According to a report from The Washington Post, the State Department had dispatched a diplomatic cable in June requesting that embassies and consulates in these nations evaluate whether their governments could improve travel documentation for their citizens and address the status of nationals residing illegally in the U.S.

The memo warned that if these countries failed to take corrective measures within 60 days, they risked being added to the expanded travel ban list. The countries identified in the memo are listed in the Newsweek write-up as follows:

– Angola
– Antigua and Barbuda
– Benin
– Bhutan
– Burkina Faso
– Cambodia
– Cameroon
– Cape Verde
– Democratic Republic of the Congo
– Djibouti
– Dominica
– Ethiopia
– Egypt
– Gabon
– Gambia
– Ghana
– Ivory Coast
– Kyrgyzstan
– Liberia
– Malawi
– Mauritania
– Niger
– Nigeria
– St. Kitts and Nevis
– St. Lucia
– Sao Tome and Principe
– Senegal
– South Sudan
– Syria
– Tanzania
– Tonga
– Tuvalu
– Uganda
– Vanuatu
– Zambia
– Zimbabwe

As per the article, last week, Trump declared that he “will permanently pause migration from all Third World Countries to allow the U.S. system to fully recover,” signaling a potential broadening of restrictions aimed at curbing immigration from certain regions.

Good I hope he goes through with it for all the badmind people that talk crap about the U.S. and then they go rushing there the first chance they get. For all those pepole going there to drop their anchor babies so that they can get green card. For all those people who run to the U.S. to run away from their problems and responsibilities at home. For all those snobs that think they better than people because they live in the white man country, meanwhile they cleaning toilets and wiping elderly people’s butts to make ends meet. All of you can stay home and help to build OUR country and leave other people country alone

That’s why We must throw all our support behind reparations. Like London/Eng, Paris/fr, Korea, Japan all well-off today because of REPARATIONS like the Marshall plan, needed for the Caribbean.

That’s a mindless comparison. Those are all war torn countries, that were paid to be rebuilt after the wars that devastated their countries.

There were clear parties responsible and direct involvement.

Who’s gonna pay reparations? All countries involved in slavery including african countries or all white people or just the descendants of those who were part of slavery? What about the descendants of abolitionists do they count? All black people should get paid or just those who can prove they are descendants of slaves?

There are a lot of non-trivial things to consider. Repairing the damage from slavery is something we (humans) need to do if we care about ourselves and our future but paying lajan sèch (dry cash) is not likely the answer and is definitely not possible for everyone in a just manner.

This Don-Old-Trump has a deep seated hatred for black people. The ban is almost exclusively against countries with predominantly black populations. He has equated the proud Somali people to garbage. Yet many Caribbean rulers have placed this inarticulate, bumbling wannabe dictator on a pedestal.

We must strive to develop new relationships with countries and regions that respect us as a people. The constant threats and insults from the likes of Donald we should soundly reject. What is most hateful is that our so-called leaders genuflect to this misanthrope.

Most of these people were underpaid, not paid and overworked. You should be scorned for supporting a devout racist.

You lying narcissist, you just like Trump making things up to suit your position.

Show the proof that he did that especially to black people. I’m sure he cheated a whole bunch of people but he probably did it equally, as in he was equally selfish about it with everyone.

      @ Ego,

Trump doesn’t have a “deep seated hatred for black people”not that you know anything about depth as shallow and egotistically impulsive as you are.

Trump doesn’t care enough about anyone but himself to stick to an ideology or principle, He would sell his whole race and all his current supporters if he thought it would save him or get him what he wants – that’s what makes his behavior a problem.

Dont’ get me wrong he does tend to bias, emotional outbursts(narcissistic rage)pettiness, prejudice he can also be xenophobic, bigotted and belittles everything that doesn’t serve his ego.

In other words he’s a lot like you just more orange.

Maybe Trump could try and remove the US from earth and relocate to another planet where there’s no people of colour. But seriously, I think it’s time that FIFA should seriously consider removing the World Cup from the US and probably share the fixtures between Canada and Mexico. Football fans should not be deprived of travelling to the host country to support their teams because of the host country’s President racist ideology. Football and sports in general should embrace all races and all nationalities. If Trump cannot tolerate the sight of people other than white South Africans and Europeans, then the US don’t deserve the right to host the World Cup and other major sporting events.

Point well taken! However, we have a monumental problem. It is a fact that the Heads of most 195 countries around the world and powerful international organisations bend their knees to this bigoted, xenophobic, orange caricature.
