Trump to impose 100% tariff on non-US films

Donald Trump has announced his intention to impose a 100% tariff on films made in foreign countries.

Citing the perceived “dying” state of the American film industry, he attributes this decline to foreign nations offering incentives to attract filmmakers, which he labels a “national security threat.”  An article by the BBC states that the tariff aims to revitalize domestic film production, but this move, predicted the article, will escalate existing trade disputes

The proposed tariffs are intended to discourage American production companies from filming outside the US, a common practice to reduce costs. However, the specifics of the policy remain unclear.

It is not yet known if the tariff will apply to American studios producing films abroad, or how it will be implemented for films on streaming services versus those in cinemas.

This ambiguity has caused concern within the international film industry, reported the BBC.

According to the article, critics, such as NPR Radio film critic Eric Deggans, warn that these tariffs could have negative repercussions, suggesting that other countries might retaliate with their own tariffs on American films. This would make it more difficult for US productions to be profitable overseas.

“It may create a situation where the tariffs in America are causing more harm than good,” remarked Deggans.

The Motion Picture Association, representing major US film studios, has not yet commented on the potential impact of this policy.

This ignoramus thinks that cluelessness and hubris are ideals to celebrate. The man is fragmenting America and turning the world on its head.

His ills conceived tariff war is creating a global economic earthquake. Prices of goods and services will soon reach stratospheric heights.

The American people, right now, are in the precise position as he Domjnican populace. Elections have consequences. You get the government you deserve. You can’t sow poison ivy and expect to get Gold Medal Rose flower.

Ok, a few of his changes are needed, not only as a wake up call but the current state of affairs has failed. They and Democrats are 2 sides of the WS coin. It’s up to the Congressional Black Caucasus (CBC) to stop dishing out simple mepuis on people who have studied your people, and use this as a reset to get serious losses back on track; and push segregation (integration has not worked), reparations and/or educating their own children.

And so, the American people that voted him and others do not mind. As long as he goes after abortion, Lgbtqxi&i, gov’t spending, Black History – inclusive of quasi-Marshall law on black neighborhoods, civil rights; anything that promotes upward mobility of their former enslaved citizens, even though too many white American women get spent and suffer heavy losses in the process like DEI.
