Trump’s international tariffs take effect

US President Donald Trump had a conversation yesterday with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum, just two days after he revealed plans to implement extensive tariffs on their countries and China.

NBC News has reported that Sheinbaum indicated the U.S. had agreed to a one-month suspension of tariffs following her commitment to deploy 10,000 troops to the border to combat the influx of fentanyl and illegal immigration.

Trudeau mentioned over the weekend that Canada would start applying 25% tariffs on over $100 billion worth of U.S. products in retaliation for the tariffs imposed by the U.S.

Additionally, reports indicated that Elon Musk announced overnight that he and Trump are working on plans to dismantle the U.S. Agency for International Development, a move that the administration has contemplated in shifting its oversight to the State Department.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, as the United States implemented a 10% tariff on Chinese imports, China swiftly responded with its own set of countermeasures, which included imposing tariffs ranging from 10% to 15% on various American products.

Beginning on February 10, China will introduce a 15% tariff on coal and liquefied natural gas, along with a 10% tariff on crude oil, agricultural equipment, larger vehicles, and pickup trucks, according to an announcement from the government.

Elon Musk is the real president, Don-old Trump is just the figurehead leader. Both are equally misguided and will be the downfall of America as we know it.

This relationship will be soon torn asunder as these two narcissists egos are too huge for both to exist in the same space.

The world should prepare for this eventuality. When elephants fight it is the grass that suffers.

  2. we have tarrifs too...

People are making this out to be a huge deal like it is going to destroy the U.S. economy, meanwhile here in Dominica we have a 43% import duty on almost everything that comes in and certain things like vehicles have even higher import duties and additional levies (environmental etc).

And some people might say well that’s different which is technically true. A tariff is targeted at a specific country or company. In the case of a specific company it forces that company to move their production locally or raise prices to absorb the cost of the tariff which makes them less competitive compared to local companies, which is good for the local businesses.

On the other hand import duties are a direct burden on the consumer and in our case they are applied to practically everything, including a vast number of items that have no locally produced equivalent.

So if this is so bad for the U.S. then we should really be having a conversation about our own tariff/import duty problem

Trump’s term will be worse, and much more chaotic than Bidens. By the way, i still believe that Biden should be in jail. Firstly Trumps team is replete with war hawks, secondly he, Trump, is an impulsive character and thirdly he talks like he does not know the final effect of a tariff.
Imposing 100% tariff on Chinese electric cars for example as the fool once babbled. What happens to American consumers POCKETS that want those cars? This guy is sick. That’s not the way to fight China Donald ‘Idiot’ Trump. Go take them on MILITARILY, for them to put an end to America’s BULLYING. Bury you all rascals in the sea.
When you touch China militarily it will make the war in Ukraine look meaningless, even when one million lives have been lost.
Its too late to stop China! China is as prepared for America, as Russia was to take on Ukraine and the collective West.
Americas hegemony is taking a down turn, as a multi polar world led by CHINA emerges.

Dude are you out of your mind? You are claiming Trump is going to bring chaos because of tariffs but you are advocating for military action against the PROC? Are you MAD? This is the kind of thinking of people who are chronically anti-american. Crazy.
