Twenty-four-year-old Ronaldo Wiltshire of Castle Bruce has been sentenced to 22 years in prison for the 2021 murder of businessman Phillip Norman Rolle. He appeared before High Court Judge Justice Colin Williams at the Roseau High Court. On October 29, 2021, in Sylvania, he murdered Phillip Norman Rolle of Belfast, contrary to the law.
Part of the evidence presented in court indicated that during the investigation, Wiltshire admitted to police officers that Rolle saw him on his property, and they began to fight. He also confessed to striking Rolle with a piece of wood and inflicting wounds to his body with a cutlass.
In a previous report, Assistant Superintendent of Police George Theophile stated that 89-year-old Rolle, the proprietor of Valley Engineering, was attacked at his home in Sylvania, and his body was later discovered in nearby bushes on the premises. Theophile noted that at the time of discovery, around 11:30 PM, police officers observed multiple wounds to Rolle’s head and face, as well as a puncture wound to his neck. He was pronounced dead at the scene by a medical practitioner.
William Rolle, the nephew of the deceased, who was present in court along with the family’s attorney, Kathy Buffong Royer, on November 1, 2021, told the media that while the family is extremely saddened by the “horrific and senseless act of violence” against Mr. Rolle, they are pleased with the police investigation and the assistance they have received.
“[He was] a father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. We thank the very many individuals who have assisted so far with the investigations and who have offered support and condolences to the family,” he said.
He continued, “The loss is real, and we are still coming to grips with the tragedy. Our family remains steadfast in our love for country and people. We are confident that with time and the grace of God, we shall recover from this ordeal.”
William expressed hope that Rolle’s passing, occurring during a time of national observance, would prompt citizens to “pause and reflect on who we are as brothers and sisters and on the community we wish to create.”

This guy literally butchered an innocent, law-abiding, beloved senior citizen. This murder was particularly gruesome and had to be excruciating.
As I have said before, I’m not an avid advocate of capital but for this sort of heinous murder, the hangman gallows should be activated. The murderer deserves death and buried in an unmarked shallow grave.
This animal has forfeited his right to exist. Only a beast can committed such a dastardly act.
