The 2024 Cruise Stakeholders Symposium is slated for September 11 and 12, at the Goodwill Parish Hall. The event is scheduled to start at 9 a.m. on both days. This two-day symposium, conducted by The Ministry of Tourism, in partnership with the Discover Dominica Authority, is designed to offer essential insights and resources for stakeholders in Dominica’s cruise sector. According to a DDA statement, attendees will have the chance to:
– Learn about the latest trends in the cruise industry and its future projections.
– Discover methods and best practices to improve service quality and meet visitor expectations.
– Utilize on-site health screenings to prepare for the upcoming cruise season.
– Investigate further opportunities within the industry.
Marva Williams, CEO of Discover Dominica Authority, gave a quick breakdown of what participants can expect.
“The symposium will feature presentations on a range of topics, including health protocols, financing options, and other essential cruise-related matters. It is an excellent opportunity for all cruise stakeholders—craft and souvenir vendors, tour guides, hair braiders, taxi service providers, and others—to come together, network, and equip themselves with the knowledge and tools needed to thrive in the industry, Williams explained, adding “I strongly encourage all stakeholders to sign up and attend this important event to ensure we are fully prepared for the upcoming cruise season.”
Interesting initiative. Dominica has the natural product attributes but while the cruise ship sector has tremendous growth potential, Dominica lacks the human, financial, marketing, physical infrastructure resources to grow the sector.
Stakeholders should take advantage of the upcoming Florida Caribbean Cruise Association (FCCA) Caribbean Cruise Conference in St Maarten in October 2024. It’s a great opportunity to conduct business and try to get a piece of the cruise ship business pie.
