Chinese Ambassador to Dominica H.E. Chu Maoming forecasts that mutual political trust between Dominica and his country will continue to deepen.
He was speaking during a reception in celebration of the 76th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China held at the Chinese Embassy in Morne Daniel recently.
Last year marked the 20th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Dominica. President H.E. Xi Jinping met with Dominican Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit in Beijing at the time, providing guidance and setting the direction for the development of China–Dominica relations.
Looking back, Ambassador Chu stated, “Under the leadership of head-of-state diplomacy, our bilateral relations have continued to grow steadily, with further strengthening of high-level exchanges.”
He continued, “China always appreciates Dominica’s firm adherence to the one-China principle.”
Ambassador Chu stated that in the future, China and Dominica will work to support each other on issues bearing on their respective core interests; advance the four Global Initiatives; resolutely safeguard the UN-centered international system and the international order based on international law; speak with a common voice in international and regional affairs, and uphold the shared interests of developing countries.
Additionally, he stated that practical cooperation between China and Dominica will become more prosperous.
He went on to add that this year, both sides have continuously implemented the important consensus reached by their leaders, with the goal of promoting economic and social development and enhancing the well-being of the people.
“We have strengthened practical cooperation across various fields, including agriculture, education, healthcare, and infrastructure, and achieved remarkable results. With nationwide anticipation, we are advancing key infrastructure projects such as the international airport and post-hurricane [schools] reconstruction projects efficiently and effectively. Significant progress has already been made, and these projects are expected to bring more convenience to the people of Dominica soon,” Ambassador Chu noted.
According to the ambassador, cultural exchanges between China and Dominica will continue to flourish.
“As two countries with brilliant civilizations, China and Dominica, though located at opposite ends of the globe, have never ceased their engagement in cultural dialogue,” he indicated. “This year, we witnessed Chinese intangible cultural heritage kites from Weifang, Shandong, traveling across the ocean to soar alongside Dominican kites in the blue skies over Portsmouth, creating a memorable story.”
Moreover, he emphasized that Chinese Kung Fu and Chinese cuisine have repeatedly featured on local cultural event stages in Dominica, leaving deep impressions on many people.
“The Confucius Classroom at Dominica State College continues to provide children with a high-quality platform to learn Chinese language and experience Chinese culture,” he asserted. “Soon, it will again organize a study tour to China, allowing participants to personally experience the integration of China’s long history and modern achievements.”
Ambassador Chu added, “ For China, the veil over this ‘Nature Island’ has already been lifted, and we can look forward to more tourists coming to this Caribbean treasure. Through increasingly close people-to-people exchanges, the foundation of understanding and trust in China–Dominica relations will grow ever stronger, and the friendship between our two peoples will continue to be passed down and deepen over time.”
it’s very interesting you know when I hear the voice of China’s ambassador addressing Dominicans, during China’s special anniversary.
DNO, I have a few questions, maybe three
1. who is Dominica’s ambassador to China ?
2. Does he/she ever address China during our special occasions?
3. Look, our independence is coming on November 3. Is our ambassador to China down to address China and if so, will he or she get the national attention, coverage or respect that the China ambassador to Dominica gets?
4. I bet come independence day I bet it will be the same China ambassador that will address us in Dominica while our ambassador to China, if there is one will be muted. Boy according to Gramax Mie Daba woy, why, why daba an caban kakaw
What’s with this Mie Daba trivial nonsense, so childish. Dominica has a relationship with many Western Governments and not one of their PM or Presidents have ever given their time to host Dominica PM or meet him to discuss their relationship, always a low level Government official, especially the US. Do you forget this https://english.news.cn/20240325/b9b9964288c840ef9066dde80d526144/c.html Here you have the Leader of the 2 largest economy in the world taking his time to meet and host our PM and discuss their relationship, doesn’t that superseded your silliness.
There is no bilateral relationship between China and Dominica. NONE! Dominica has become just a miniature satellite of China. As I have stated previously, there can be no neutral relation between a blue whale and a sprat. The larger and more powerful always dominates and mostly manipulates the smaller or weaker.
You are totally wrong. There’s always something the big one needs from the smaller, if the smaller is witty enuf to negotiate using what he has that they want. ie, a simple vote at the U.N on issues that matter to the bigger one, It doesn’t take much today to be sophisticated and smart. Besides rotating one’s politicians every 10 years, that includes contesting an election to remain relevant and/or supporting a candidate less smart than you are.
What’s with your wit and sarcasm.
