Mother of National Cricketer, Tyrone Theophile, is reporting that her son has undergone surgery in Martinique after he was airlifted out of Dominica on Sunday and and doctors are now awaiting for him to come out of an induced coma.
Gina Toussaint told Dominica News Online (DNO) in an interview, that based on information received as of 5 pm yesterday, Sunday Dec 28, 2020, her son, who was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident on Christmas day, is still unresponsive and she is therefore, appealing to the general public to continue to pray for his speedy recovery.
“Yesterday they allowed his girlfriend to go in and based on the video I saw, he was just laying on the bed with lots of tubes attached to him. As understood, he hasn’t opened his eyes or moved, he’s just still,” she stated. “So I’m asking everyone to just pray for a sign on his behalf, a sign that the surgery was successful. That’s all we need at this moment; I just want my son back.”
She extended her appreciation to those in Dominica and in the region for the outpouring of love and support which her family has been receiving throughout this tough period, and notes that “all the prayers and love and support which we have been receiving, has been keeping us going.”
“I want this love to continue and I also hope that this very same love can be extended to others who are hurting at this moment. We Dominicans do have a lot of love, but we often wait until it’s too late, or until something drastic happens. Let’s change this in the new year,” Toussaint urged. “My family and I are grateful for all the calls, the messages, the prayers, the visits. Despite the situation, we feel blessed to know that we have the love and support from the general public.”
The mother of the young Dominican star-player who is from the community of Pointe Michel, went on to thank immensely the Government of Dominica, particularly the Prime Minister, Roosevelt Skerrit and Parliamentary Representative, Denise Charles for their swift response in getting her son airlifted.
Theophile has been one of Dominica’s top cricketers over the past ten years or so. He has also extended his cricketing prowess to the region, captaining the Windward Islands Volcanoes team for a few seasons at the regional level.
DNO will continue to provide updates on Theophile’s condition as the information becomes available.
Hang n there my DA family! Jah always knows better you will over come that situation family we are with you all! Stay strong DA we come from
This breaks my heart. When is the government going to legislate more driving restrictions, to stem this carnage?
You all sit back, and expect Roosevelt Skerrit to live under your bed to take care of even your thoughts!
What about self-consciousness, and taking responsibility for one’s personal behavior, and conduct?
In Dominica the majority of idiots believe driving is a profession, it is not! It is simply a privilege; nevertheless, no matter who these people are once they sit behind a steering wheel of a car or truck they like to show off; speed to show people how fast they can drive!
The driving infrastructure, (roads) in Dominica is not built to accommodate speeding! The average motor vehicle these days, if the average car on the road in Dominica top speed is about 140 miles per hour.
Many V8 turbocharge or simple V8 goes near 200 miles per hour, the faster ones as I have hits 225 miles per hour, if I took one to Dominica, and try to show off I would die in a minute.
The roads are too narrow, and winding to drive over thirty miles per hour!
Get better, brother.
Eternal Father, God of Light, of Love and Miracles, we thank You that Tyrone had a successful surgery. We commit him to Your care and claim total healing for him. Bless his family and friends Lord, and keep everyone safe. Amen
Hang in there bro hang in there……looking forward to having you back in the nature isle to represent soon. Lots of love and prayers. This really hurts man!
