Attorney General Pam Bondi announced Thursday that the United States has doubled its reward for information leading to the arrest of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, raising the figure from $25 million to $50 million.
The announcement, made via a video message, follows joint efforts by the Justice Department and State Department to intensify pressure on Maduro, who faces multiple federal charges in the United States. These include narco-terrorism, conspiracy to import cocaine, possession of machine guns and destructive devices, and related conspiracy charges stemming from a March 2020 indictment.
Bondi stated that Maduro is linked to several foreign criminal organizations, including Tren de Aragua, Mexico’s Sinaloa cartel, and Venezuela’s Cartel of the Suns. She described him as “one of the largest narco-traffickers in the world” and a threat to U.S. national security. According to Bondi, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has seized 30 tons of cocaine tied to Maduro and his associates. She added that the cocaine is often laced with fentanyl, contributing to thousands of American deaths.
The Cartel of the Suns, reportedly composed of high-ranking Venezuelan officials, is alleged to be central to Maduro’s drug-trafficking operations. U.S. officials claim Maduro has coordinated with the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC), a designated terrorist organization, to facilitate multi-ton shipments of cocaine. He is also accused of directing the cartel to supply military-grade weapons to FARC and of organizing militia training with FARC leadership.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio has also voiced strong criticism of Maduro, particularly following Venezuela’s disputed 2024 presidential election. “Maduro is not the President of Venezuela and his regime is not the legitimate government,” Rubio said last month. He reiterated U.S. support for restoring democratic governance in Venezuela and accused Maduro of corrupting national institutions to support drug trafficking operations.
The State Department initially offered a $25 million reward for Maduro’s arrest in January. The increased bounty underscores the U.S. government’s continued efforts to hold Maduro accountable for alleged criminal activities and to support democratic reform in Venezuela.
Maybe is the time to continued the fight to reclaim Bird Island as belonging to the Commonwealth of Dominica.

It is not as easy as one may think to catch Maduro. If Maduro has to come to DA, one and foremost the DA police won’t be in charge of the day to day event. It will be Maduro in charge and his army. The only way Maduro can be set up is by his own army. If his army does not set up him being given up, it will take a war to catch him, and that in itself will be a crisis.
