UN condemns brutal killing of 40 people in Haiti

The United Nations Secretary-General has issued a firm condemnation of the recent violent incident in Haiti, where at least 40 individuals—including women, children, and seniors—lost their lives during a savage assault by armed gangs in the Cabaret area of the West Department. The attack reportedly occurred overnight on September 11. Stéphane Dujarric, spokesman for the Secretary-General, relayed his deepest sympathies to the families affected, as well as to the people and government of Haiti, in a recent press statement.

Expressing concern over the escalating violence across the country, the Secretary-General called on Haitian authorities to ensure that those responsible for these and other human rights violations are held accountable.

He also urged international partners to accelerate efforts to bolster the Multinational Security Support (MSS) mission, emphasizing the need for additional logistics, personnel, and funding.

He added that the goal is to provide effective support to the Haitian National Police in tackling gang-related violence, while fully respecting international human rights standards.

Stop the occupation of Haiti since 1915 to this day, get out like you did in eastern Europe and watch what you call gangs go away, without using the UN to make occupation stick.

The United Nations is just a White Thing Elephant. Hardly any positive outcomes are had there.

War and famine in Sudan; Israel bombing Gaza, the West Bank, Lebanon, Iran, Syria, Qatar, Yemen with immunity; daily chaos and starvation in Haiti; Trump about to start a war wth Venezuela for fictitious reasons citing illegal drugs trafficking . The world is in serious trouble.

The sad thing is the UN was formed to prevent and put out fires among or within
nations. Now this is not happening as geopolitics is destroying the irld.

I’m just longing to hear some good news doing out of Haiti. They have been suffering for much too long without any respite in sight. It is one first and evil government for tie immemorial.

The U.S. is just a stonethrow away from Haiti but stubbornly refuses to use its if hence and vast resources to help to bring about lasting changes along with CARICOM. Yet, they are expending massive resources to intimidate and very possible invade Venezuela over narcotics controlled not by the Venezuelan government but most likely a few outlaws.

It’s burdensome and precarious to live the life of a Haitian. No country wants you.

Why are we not part of the multi-national police/ army support fighting the gangs in Haiti so this regional scourge can come to an end? What happen to our once proud and mighty SSU where only the best of the best were previleged to wear the green uniform? Why cant we bring back under contract folks like the legendary Butcha, Wayne James, Hypolite and others who served us so proudly under contract in Haiti to lead a group of the best as our contribution?

Haitians are our brothers and sisters so why not do our share to help? It looks like the SSU of today is just a bunch of cowards in army uniforms for flash and paid to intimidate non-DLP supporting Dcans. Send them to do work in Haiti souplay!

The Dominican police look intimidating, forceful and impressive in their uniform among peaceful civilians. Send them to Haiti and you would quickly realise how cowardly, incompetent, and feeble they are. They will wet their trousers when confronted by the gangs.

The UN is quite a toothless organisation. It can’t address the suffering in Haiti one bit, because it seem like countries don’t take this organization seriously. Similarly, what has it done to address the genocide carried out in Gaza by the two terrorist countries, America and Israel, other than talk?
This organization needs to be reorganized, its headquarters relocated, and a huge review of who has VETO power reconsidered.
Why has CARICOM largely abandoned Haiti though.

Hot debate. What do you think? Thumb up 5 Thumb down 4
