UPDATE: 60-year-old charged with the murder of his brother in Grand Bay

60-year-old Julian Xavier of Grand Bay has been charged with the murder of his brother, 70-year-old Stanislas Xavier better known as ‘Ashely’ also from that community.

Dominica News Online (DNO) has learned of this development from very reliable sources who said that the accused is expected to appear in court today where the charges will be read to him.

Xavier’s death is recorded as the second murder for the year.

According to previous reports from Inspector Fixton Henderson, on Wednesday May 15, 2024, sometime in the evening, Xavier was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Dominica-China Friendship Hospital (DCFH) suffering from severe brain injury with acute bleeding and frontal head fracture.

On Thursday, May 16, 2024, at about 9 AM Xavier was examined and pronounced dead by a medical doctor at the ICU.

His body is being kept at a funeral home pending an autopsy.

Xavier was allegedly involved in an altercation at Berricoa, Grandbay, where he lived, at about 7 PM on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, which resulted in injury to his head.
