The Commonwealth of Dominica police force has confirmed that one person, Davidson Alfred of Grandbay, was fatally shot after an attempted robbery which occurred earlier this afternoon in Salybia, Kalinago Territory.

The police confronted the robbers which resulted in the shooting death of Alfred, the driver of the vehicle. The police subsequently recovered a firearm from the vehicle.

According to police two of the suspects, Jarvis Alfred and Chelsea Anselm, are currently on the run and are considered armed and dangerous.

The men are wanted for the robbery, at gunpoint, of a shop owner and a Springfield trading delivery truck. One of the truck attendants was beaten and shot but survived the attack and was transported to the hospital in stable condition.

A source in the Kalinago Territory informed DNO that the vehicle in which the men were trying to escape from the police after a failed robbery attempt, crashed into a DOMLEC pole.

The police continue to search for the two individuals who are still at large and have asked that the public contact the emergency numbers 999 or 911 if they have any information that may lead to the capture of the fugitives.

You all must be jealous of Skerrit. Ignorant, stupid Dominicans. Here are three people doing a robbing and they blame it on Skerrit. You all are nothing but as.holes Dominicans. America is the richest country in the world and they are still stealing and gunning people down. It is all Skerrit’s fault. You all need to educate yourselves and get a job. Like as if when UWP gets in, all crimes come to a halt. Stupid, uneducated Dominicans. If North Korea bombs South Korea, blame it on Skerrit. If the rain does not fall, blame on Skerrit. You all will have to like it for another 25 years. Labor power all the way.

      The Man of Lawlessness
2 Concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered to him, we ask you, brothers and sisters, 2 not to become easily unsettled or alarmed by the teaching allegedly from us—whether by a prophecy or by word of mouth or by letter—asserting that the day of the Lord has already come. 3 Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness[a] is revealed, the man doomed to destruction. 4 He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God’s temple, proclaiming himself to be God.

Stealing and killing has been a part of Dominican life (and the life of all countries) from time immemorial. Not a new thing. As long as man gives in to evil ways, there will be stealing and killing.

Any bad things Skerrit has perpetrated, and I can mention a few, can not be an excuse for an armed robbery that has nothing to do with Skerrit. I am sorry someone got killed but when you go on a venture like that, armed with a gun you can not be surprised that it can result in your own death. A delivery truck like that is clearly identifiable and I believe it is unsafe for anyone to go around like that carrying a lot of ready cash. Why doesn’t the whole sealer ask their customers to settle their bills electronically and so reduce the risk to their employees but maybe that is too obvious.

IT DOH HAVE INTERNET IN THE KALINAGO TERRITORY! Plus the majoirty of merchants here do not have electronic online payment options. For those that do you most likely have ot have an NBD account, i personally do not want to bank with NBD.

My problem with the police is, unless they arrest Skerrit for the information Al Jazeera told the world, the police should not arrest or shoot anyone for stealing. Except the police arrest Skerrit for our $1.2 billion dollars that he cannot account for, the police should not kill anyone for stealing. It cannot be right for the police to be guarding a thief and threatening good citizens that gave evidence of theft to them and at the same time they killing a person for stealing .

The unnatural loss of a human life cannot be a good thing. However, it is inexcusable to rob another man of his hard earned money. Crime does not pay.

What I will like to add is this:-
Crime is contagious. If the government becomes a law breaker, it breeds contempt for the law.

I say kill them all wherever they find them. That’s why I love the U.S. – second amendment and “stand your ground” (at least in some states). If you incite aggression on someone while being armed you make a threat against the person’s life. Whether it is to rob them or for whatever reason you deserve to have your life taken.

  8. June 16, 2020

@Possie Direct, do you feel proud and smart to write the mess which is posted above. Well, you are neither!

If a crime of robbery is the fault of Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit, because he has caused Dominicans to be so poor–as you claim –what do you think is the cause of robbery from cities like Toronto, where I live right now?

In case you do not know, Toronto is one of the richest cities in the World, but there are people who refuse to work and going around committing intensive crimes of robbery, with guns other weapons. Is this the fault of the Government and the depths of poverty in the City?

Some years ago I was walking on a street of downtown Toronto when a man approached me with a bunch of pure gold Jewelry–watches, rings, necklace and more–but he was selling them for as little as $20.00, it was clear that he stole those items from a Jewelry store–was that the fault of the Government?

When the Police mess up i give them heat. Today you guys seem to have responded quickly so to that I say good job. I will also advise there are other crimes that involves some form of theft that need to be investigated and perpetrators arrested. Its sad that our young men have to find themselves involved in this kind of activities. Work hard an honestly for your living. Crime does not pay except for loss of life and loss of freedom. Working hard to earn a living is an honorable thing to do. I hope the two others are caught put away for some reflection time.

      • Iamanidiot
        June 17, 2020

It’s different because from what I understand they fired at the police, they were a threat to citizens and the police. George Floyd was on the ground and unarmed, he was no threat. They werent in handcuffs at the back of the car and they were shot or killed. I hope that clarifies it, but if you need me to go further in depth in the differences I can.

Maybe they were. Actually Lin Clown you circus character, if you notice, the level of crime has changed during the past 20 years. Before these types of crimes and shooting would never happen in broad day light. Robbery was never that rampant. The people are hungry, and the greedy getting greedier. During COVID 19 people are feeling the poor economic downward activity we have had for the past decade. Young men are resorting to robbery in broad daylight. Real jobs and work are far and few. NEP cannot wet the appetite of the youth. We see no progress in the productive industries. Non the less, real shotta nah rob 9-5 people. These young men need proper guidance and something worthwhile to get them off the notion that crime is the only way out of poverty. The system isnt working. the government isnt putting things in place to raise our social values and morals. Everything as of late had brought down the moral fibre of our people, particullaly the young men and women who are easilyinfluence

  15. Possie Direct
    June 16, 2020

WOW! I know things are bad in Dominica but I didn’t think it was that bad man. When three people can plan to Steal from a truck carrying merchandise at 2 pm, speaks of poverty, desperation and a very sad state of affairs. Now one is dead and two are at large and we don’t know if the deceased was gun down or died from the accident or, if they are kalinago people or people from another part of the island. But no matter how one looks at it and who is involved, that incident speaks of a very poor state of affairs as No work, No money is a recipe to theft and crime
which is the reason why the government of St. Maarten encouraged illegal residents to volunteerily leave the country or be prepared to be deported because when people are not working they will commit crimes to survive. Here Skerrit is taking work from us and stripping us from our God given responsibility and ability to work so we could feed our woman and children so what you expect? My sympathies to the family

    • Badbaje
      June 16, 2020

Three people planning to steal from a truck carrying merchandise at 2 PM does not necessarily speak of poverty, it speaks of three thieves. Thieves do not have to be poor, in fact many thieve are rich, and steal legally from the poor. The report also says one was fatally shot, so I don’t understand why you are puzzled as to how the person died, when you say you don’t know if he was gunned down or if he died from the accident. I will not speak as to your last paragraph as I do not know the conditions in St. Maarten, or what Skerrit has done regarding taking work from “us”. But I do agree that we need work so we can earn a living and support our women and children. We do have to provide for our families.

Monkey see monkey do. Jesus said:
“I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does “-John 5:19.
Our young people see our leaders stealing in broad daylight and police not arresting them or questioning them so those poor people think stealing is the way to go. It’s sad because stealing is wrong and should be stopped. But when we see our fathers stealing and so many of our top people are supporting them don’t we think it will cause our young people to think they too should steal to survive?

It’s a hard pill to swallow but is one we must take. The above situation is glimpse of the Dominican Skerrit has created…a Dominica where people are forced to Steal in broad daylight to survive and where thiefing is the order of business expect killing and shooting. My deepest sympathy to the deceased. I just hope is not a kalinago brother that got killed and those at large a not kalinago brothers, since Skerrit has tricked them so many times to stay in power

So much damn work it have to do in the country how these thugs can’t find something constructive to do? How they are able to afford illegal guns if they are so poor? These are criminal thugs looking for easy money and they have complete disregard for human life. Some of them walk around with big chain and riding around on scooter whole day contributing nothing of value to society only chasing after women, eating, sleeping and causing crime but some of you will give them excuse.
