UPDATE: Wesley man hospitalized following shooting incident in Roseau

Police continue investigating a shooting incident that occurred on 47 Kings Lane in Roseau at about 4:30 PM on Wednesday, where Michael Bazil alias ‘Cork’ of Wesley sustained multiple gunshot wounds.

According to a police report, it appears that Bazil was standing, speaking to a bus driver in the vicinity of Smith Bar and Grill which is located near Kings Lane, close to River Street and River Bank.

Whilst there, a motorcyclist and his pillion rider both dressed in black clothing stopped and began shooting at Bazil.

Michael was transported to the Dominica-China Friendship Hospital (DCFH) and is said to be in a critical condition

These criminals are becoming outrageously bold. They are no longer shooting under the cover of darkness but in broad daylight.

Police cannot be everywhere all the time but there must be a constant police presence in known hotspot areas. They are ever present at peaceful marches and protests.

Seriously, this year has had many more shootings than previous years. It is as though every criminal who wants a gun can purchase one like people buy bread.

With the continued absence of a serious, well thought out crime plan, a corrupt and inept police force, these senseless shootings will only exacerbate. Dominica is fast becoming an ungovernable place.

Luckily, the homicides from these many shootings are not equally high as these bandits cannot shoot straight.
