Following the successful hosting of a National Rally in Grand Fond last month, the United Workers Party (UWP) will hold a national meeting in Layou from 6:30 PM on Saturday, March 21, 2026.
Leader of the UWP, Dr. Thomson Fonataine, told DNO that the meeting will focus on the UWP plans to tackle the high cost of living in Dominica by highlighting its 10 Pillars to shared economic prosperity.
“The meeting will also deal with the issue of the voter confirmation process,” he said.
He also indicated that the meeting will draw supporters and well-wishers from across Dominica.
Dr. Fontaine further shared that his party, “is prepared to let the Dominican public know of their plans and strategies to rescue the economy and provide jobs and better opportunities to the youth and the general population.”
He added, “A number of speakers both within and outside of the party will address the national meeting.”
The DASS story will not go Away, it will there be to hunts whoever hurts it.

I’m sorry but the big boys of the party that I have always respected are now hurting the party. Where is Mr Edison James? Where is Hon Lennox Linton? Where is Mr Prevost for Roseau? To a lesser extent where is Spags? All you hurting our party at this time of need as if there is not a tomorrow
You see, some of those you mentioned just cannot fathom that a little banana-boy from the East, Grand Fond to exact, regardless of his qualifications and experience should have the privilege of leading the mighty UWP.These guys have shown that while they are true patriots (undoubtedly), Leadership Malady has consumed them. LL and Mr. James are the biggest surprises thus far.

Why have you given Thompson such accolades when he was the mastermind orchestrating the deceptive operation for the UWP.
One of the things a politician has to learn in the political arena is when to gracefully step aside, what are you talking about Thompson should continue the fight. The UWP has never been Dominica’s pride and joy in politics, this Party has brought a poisonous atmosphere to the Dominican electorate, never seen before, what’s left is the remnant. I wonder what part of Layou he going Layou proper,Layou housing scheme or Hillsborough gardens.Since the time of Doreen Paul UWP winning in Layou by 100 votes.In the St.Joseph constituency of which Layou is a part DLP(the last time UWP contested)by more than 400 votes.I am sure 90% of the people that will be in Layou are not from the St.Joseph constituency.
