UWP delegates at Castle Bruce

Below are video clips of the United Workers Party’s (UWP) Vice President, Deputy Political Leader, and Political Leader as they spoke at the general session of the UWP’s annual delegates conference earlier today at Castle Bruce. DNO has been informed that the business session at which the executive of the party will be elected, is now underway.

Incumbent political leader Thomson Fontaine is up for re-election and is being challenged by Marigot MP Delbert Paris who has publicly announced his bid to lead the party. According to the UWP constitution, nominations for the leadership position can also come from the floor.

You know, I looked into the face of all the people in the audience only to discover the traditional angry look on all their faces!
We have a certain way of hanging our face, which might be a Dominican trait, in addition to the way most people in the audience hold their hands to their face as if they’re in agonizing pain!
There seems to be plenty of unhappy people in the country. Sitting looking angry, and depressed will not solve the problem! If they are dissatisfied with the circumstances under which they exist, the suffering becomes unbearable, they should get angry enough to do something in order to free themselves from the political misery in which they are shackled!
Take to the streets as in 1979, let there be a general strike, shut down the country until the dictator Roosevelt Skerrit and his subordinates disappear into oblivion.
Nothing can be accomplished by being angry without physical aggression (aggressive) actions!

Where is the enthusiasm? Everyone looks bored and disengaged!!! Furthermore, the audience is void of any tangible young men representation. The party will need cross-section representation and an all hands on deck electorate to displace the current administration.

The audience is not looking happy .It appears that one is even taking a little nap.

This UWP delegates conference confirms that the party keeps making bad decisions that will just keep dividing the party more and more, which is very good news for Skerrit. Why put the leader under so much undue pressure uselessly, when the same result could have been achieved without this useless and embarrassing defeat to Senator Parris, who seems to be the future face of the party. I keep saying UWP is a very good party with some bright people but alas! They are very poor in strategy and that’s why they are not in the parliament today neither as government or opposition.
While I am happy Mr Paris is the deputy leader of the party that felt, I hope he doesn’t allow those big wolves in the party to use him to go after Dr Fontaine and subsequently destroy the party. To Doc Fontaine I say congratulations and hope he uses this third term to strengthen the party. My other concern is, Mr Linton should have been replaced replaced as president by a person like pastor Randy, a uniter
