The flooding from today’s heavy rain has caused significant damage in some areas on the eastern coast of the island.
Here are some videos and photos of the effects of the rain.

I’ve said it as nauseam…Climate resilience begins with bypass roads and better bridges.
not free houses and handouts.
there is one road in and out of Roseau either side. both are at sea level. The tsunami signs are a joke. you’re trapped.
One road from Soufriere and Scott’s head routinely blocked.
One road through the bottlenecks of Mahaut and Massacre. If you don’t have to go through, there should be a way around. Going up through Belfast just brings you back to the middle, making the problem worse.
One road through Portsmouth.
Do we have civil engineers with foresight and training? Always reactive never proactive, ..government builds a new bridge in Thibaud, takes almost a year to replace a small junction, yet the “new” bridge is lower than the one they took out. Who approved that?
Very sad to see the damage caused by the floods, but were mitigation measures ever put in place post Erica along riverbanks?
just my $0.02 worth.
And who will use the bypass and bridges if there are no humans who were sheltered by resilient housing, manicous and tete chiens?
Where is your evidence CBI funds are not invested in Dominica. You are just a handful of blue parrots, repeating what people say.No wonder all you blue head is buried in a pit toilet.Go tell the people in the housing revolution, the people in the NEP and yes we care,CBI money is not being invested in Dominica..Tell the people receiving $300 monthly and the people benefiting from the free school bus service that CBI money is not being invested in Dominica. Then ask your party UWP what they did with the hundreds of millions of dollars they collected( between 1995 and 2000)SELLING Dominica passports under their Reengineered citizenship Programme.
Yes jack, the Chinese and Skerrit dig up Deux Branche, and it ended up daycallaying the Kalinago territory.Chief Annette Sanford should have paid more attention to the Kalinago territory than to Deux Branche.Saw everything that was GOING to happen in Deux Branche.Did not see what was happening in her own Kalinago territory.
attention u looking for?????????
We are so quick to tell the US what they should do with their money. But why not hold our own government accountable for usage of the CBI funds. If the CBI funds were invested in the country during the 25 years of this government we would be blooming and not looking for handouts.
@smh. No one is telling the US what to do with their money. What Caribbean people is saying to the US, is to stop murdering Caribbean people in their small boats and use the money they spend on producing these expensive bombs to help in time of natural disasters and invest in the region like the Chinese do.
But not that same North East cost Skerrit has Chinese mining in nou? Let Skerrit and China continue to dig and daykay the country and all you will see who will suffer tomorrow
Is Mother Nature sending a not too subtle or subliminal message? Stop messing with me otherwise…………..
All that damage was caused by the quarry at Deux Branche.Save Deux Branche,Annette Sanford and the Kalinago COUNCIL know how to save Deux Branche and nature. But they do not know how to save property in the Kalinago territory.Waiting for Viva Mamo,Save Deux Branche.Annette Sanford and to tell Dominicans what caused the rain. The Concord river over flowed it’s banks because of quarrying at Deux Branche. The rainy season will start in June to November because of the Deux Branche quarry.Dominica will NOT experience flood waters if there is NO quarrying at Deux Branche.
Very sad scenes brought on by uncontrollable weather. Hope there’s no loss of life. This is where the might of the US would come in handy for Caribbean people. Instead of the US using it’s resources to bomb small boats in the Caribbean and murdering Caribbean people, they should always be on standby to help in situations like these caused by natural disasters.
Fortunately, Dominica is the world’s first climate resilient nation.
Dominica according to Roosevelt Skerrit, is the first one, and only resilient country in the world!
And so one should ask: Resilient to what?
Now I erred because Dominica is the first world in my comment.
That should make you wonder who’s comments make sense and who asked a nonsensical question!
and what do you take that to really mean?
If it will help your enlightenment, try to figure out the word Dominica was by error omitted from the sentence, if your question is in reference to my post!
In addition for your mind development: try and figure out the definition of the term “resilient” or resilience, and when you learn the simple, and true definition of the term; figure out if it makes any sense in reference to Roosevelt garbage talk about Dominica is first first resilient country on planet earth!
For your information one can build structures to withstand stronger velocity of wind, one can build fire retardant structures, nevertheless, all structures shall remain vulnerable to the elements of nature.
Anything built can be destroyed by any of the elements of nature!
I was not attacking u
what did u take my comment to mean……..what did u get from it
Let’s just ignore whatever I said in reference to your comment: in fact I never thought for one moment you attacked me in anyway.
I am not that sensitive. I discovered where I erred, because I seem not to have understood your thoughts.
Don’t worry about it, no love lost okay!
