Heavy waves have been pounding the coast of Dominica for at least two days. There are reports of yachts being grounded in Portsmouth because of high surf.
On Wednesday evening, L’Express Des Îles was forced to dock at the Woodbridge Bay Port because of the severity of the waves.
A report from the Dominica Meteorological Service warns that a high surf advisory and a small craft warning are in effect for above-normal seas and breaking wave action along the coasts.
“Residents, small craft operators, and sea bathers especially along the northern, western and southern coasts should be on the alert and exercise extreme caution”, the advisory said.
