‘We have to find common purpose and work together’ – Barbados PM Mia Mottley says

Mia Mottley delivering remarks at the DLP Rally- Dublanc

Prime Minister of Barbados and Chairman of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), Mia Mottley has called on the people of the Caribbean region to “work together”.

She was the guest speaker at the Dominica Labour Party (DLP) 70th Anniversary Rally held in Dublanc on Sunday.

“Our whole concept and our whole understanding has to change. And the first thing I say to you as Caribbean people is that we have to find common purpose and work together,” she said. “ Because if we are stronger together,  then it means we can achieve objectives together, working together.”

She continued, “ You know what it means is that there are some things that we must do together. We have to be able to make sure that we can work together to get a better deal for our countries.”

According to Mottley who was addressing hundreds of DLP supporters,  a government cannot build schools, hospitals, clinics, and reservoirs with ’10-year money’ and ’15-year money’.

“When you go to borrow for a house, you need to borrow for 20 years or 25 years because you need the time, stretch out to pay back for the house…but if the government is only getting 10-year money overseas, it means that by the time you go now to fix your next set of problems, you’ll tie up, tie up, tie up and choke up with debt,” she remarked. “ You have to stretch it out.”

She pointed out further that’s what her government has been fighting for in the Bridgetown Initiative.

The Bridgetown Initiative is described on its website as “a call for urgent and decisive action to reform the international financial architecture (IFA).”

The policy proposal, led by Prime Minister Mottley, seeks to reform the global financial system, particularly how developed countries help developing nations address climate change and other global challenges.

“…We need longer debt, that we need cheaper debt, because we need to build countries for our people.  And if we build countries where our people want to stay,  nobody is looking to go foreign, nobody is looking to go [to the]US or UK,” she stated. “And that is why we make the point as a Caribbean region that we have to stick together. “

Mottley added, “Because if we can create these policies, if we can get a little more room to do the things that we need to do, then we can continue to deliver for you.”

Furthermore, Mottley noted that the tradition of Labour parties is that they don’t only seek prosperity for the sake of prosperity.

“We seek it to make the average workers of our country better and stronger so that they can pay for their families,” she explained.  “And my friends,  in order to do that in today’s world,  I say to you that leadership matters. “

Mottley believes that if one doesn’t have the right leadership, “you will end up with confusion.”

“If you don’t have the right leadership, you will end up with chaos…,” she stressed. “ But what I want us to understand in this region now is that yes we need the leadership at the top but we need the partnership with ordinary people. Ordinary people must begin to play their part.”

Mottley went on to add, “We have to start doing more for ourselves than taking care of those in our communities and in our families who cannot take care of themselves and we do it  with a spirit of solidarity and that is why I say that leadership matters.”

She emphasized that in today’s world with funding and Artificial  Intelligence (AI), leadership must evolve as well.“You can’t have leadership that’s standing back and watching and pontificating.  You have to have leadership that is agile. You have to have leadership that is in touch with people. You have to have it being agile without being reckless,” Mottley said.

Most inspiring speech I’ve heard from a Caribbean leader in a long time. This lady is a force to be reckoned with. No wonder UWP and their acolytes didn’t want her to come. It pains the blues to see that she red red red.

Motley embarrassed herself with that awful, cringeworthy performance. I thought she was different, but it turns out she’s just the same as all the others.

You fool-ish or you have water in your head???

Her whole speach was geared and centered around the concept that as a regional people we should come together to help each other uplift ourselves,,,

Wasn’t she instrumental to taking away an industry that was inputting Millions of dollars into the Dominican economy,,,

So you doe think mamzelle was instrumental in transferring Ross university campus to Barbados???

And what was that in exchange for???

And dey wouldn’t let me in the Bus because I was wearing a Blue Shirt!!!

Wow, what’s the purpose of this video, is it propaganda, the search of truth or the blogger seeking to give credence to his political agenda. We all know who this blogger is and what his motives are. Do you think that listening to these Women sharing their opinions which support your narrative, belief and allegations really gave an accurate insight regarding Ross relocation, Mia Mottley involvement and her questionable visit to Dominica, that’s so superficial.

The blogger made some statements that are questionable, one referring to The CEO of Ross, the other regards Mia Motley sending Military personnel to Dominica to infringe their rights. This blogger has a wonderful communication medium, but it is sad how it’s being used and utilized. Your question, “o you doe think mamzelle was instrumental in transferring Ross university campus to Barbados? No,
I’m always willing to change, but your video
shows nothing to support what you are alleging.

Like I said if you you doe get noffing from that interview then Dominica has no chance to recover from where it is right now cause is Doltish people as yourself that makes up the electorate ,,,

There’s Ross University in the background, and there they are talking about how instrumental Motley was in the Move for Ross to head to Barbados and all what was involved with political motives and affiliations and all you get from that is about bloggers coming with motives???

If you haven’t been to Possie in a while go down there and ask them to show you the expance of development that is just there abandoned, real estate that was developed to cater to the Ross University,,,

Question though, Arguably Speaking the Portsmouth constituency is probably considered the most vibrant stronghold of the DLP, and with the majority of electorates being DLP as claimed, why not have the rally in that huge area to accommodate all of Labour Power, why did they have it in Little Dublanc???

A vibrant and brilliant speech comrade PM Mia Mottley! We are stronger together; they wanted us isolated so they could more easily subdue us individually. For 30 years it has been proven that Capitalism under the exclusive leadership of the U.S. is not only unjust, it does not work, except for the ceos of BlackRock & Vanguard. Never again! Caribbean Solidarity and cooperation to build a better World. May God help us!

Let’s be honest here. How can any opposition work in unity with the DLP when its corrupt leader stubbornly refuses to even acknowledge their presence.

Roosevelt has stated that Dominica doesn’t need any opposition. He uses the armed forces to harass and wrongfully arrest opposition leaders. He does everything to emasculate them.

As with 99.9% of politicians, Mia Mottley is a grossly unprincipled politician who use flowery language to charm and mislead. No morally sound person will lend support to the most Lying, crooked and demonic serpent like Roosevelt.

If anyone is guilty of using “flowery words”, it’s you. You do that every day on here like it’s your job.

You guys were expecting her to come to Dominica and get involved in the “jerk @ff” local politics. This lady did not become a WORLD-ADMIRED-LEADER by being stupid.

Great presentation MAM! You inspire hope for a new and better Caribbean region. #pan-caribbean. #pan-africa.
