A weak tropical wave will be moving through the area today. Moisture and instability trailing this tropical wave are expected to support an increase in cloudiness and scattered showers, with a chance of thunderstorms across the island, overnight. People in areas prone to flooding, landslides and falling rocks are advised to be on alert during the passage of this wave.
Another tropical wave located in the Eastern Tropical Atlantic is being monitored for development and is projected to move near the northern Leeward Islands by mid next week.
Slight to moderate seas are anticipated over the next 24 hours, with wave heights up to 3 feet along the west coast and up to 5 feet and increasing along the east coast.
The tropical wave located in the Eastern Tropical Atlantic has the potential of developing to hurricane status by the time it reaches our longitude and depending on the steering pressure gradients it could veer towards our latitude.
I consider it to be one to watch!
