Weak low to mid-level instability associated with a trough system will maintain cloudy periods with light to moderate showers and a slight chance of isolated thunderstorms, during the morning. From tonight, an increase in moisture and instability is expected ahead of an approaching tropical wave. People in areas prone to flooding, landslides and rockfalls should exercise caution during these periods.
A frontal system in the north Atlantic is expected to generate northerly swells along the western, northern and eastern coastline today. Meanwhile an increase in wind speeds is also expected to support moderate sea conditions, with waves reaching up to 5 feet along the west coast and near 8 feet in open water along the east. As a result, a Small Craft Advisory and High Surf Advisory are in effect. Sea-bathers and small-craft operators should exercise extreme caution.
