Cricket West Indies (CWI) has announced the forthcoming home series featuring the Men’s “A” Team, set to take place as West Indies “A” competes against South Africa “A” from May 21 to June 11, 2025. Cricket West Indies shared via press release that the tour will include three 50-over matches and two four-day first-class matches, all scheduled to occur at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground in Saint Lucia.
In alignment with CWI’s expressed commitment to promoting international cricket throughout the Caribbean, all matches in this series will be open to the public free of charge. The organization encourages residents of Saint Lucia to attend in large numbers to support the West Indies team, witness the live action, and experience a unique chance to observe the region’s best talent competing at an elevated level. This series, says the press release, is part of CWI’s broader initiative to ensure that international cricket is accessible across the territories, enhancing regional connections and fan interaction at every stage. The combination of white-ball and red-ball formats provides a diverse experience for all spectators—whether seasoned cricket enthusiasts or newcomers to the sport.
CWI’s CEO Chris Dehring emphasized the importance of the series in energizing the region, stating,“The upcoming ‘A’ Series provides an excellent opportunity for our players and teams to prepare for international commitments. The international schedule is getting busier by the season and therefore it is very important for the cricketers to keep themselves ready through good competitive cricket. Having the opportunity to stage matches across the region strengthens our relationship with each territory and allows for consistent engagement with our passionate fans.”
The West Indies “A” team is poised to face their South African counterparts in what is anticipated to be a fiercely competitive series, continuing the rivalry that began with the West Indies “A” tour of South Africa in 2023. With Saint Lucia as the host location, local support will be a significant advantage.
“This is a critical part of the development of our players while creating a pathway towards full international selection. Following an encouraging first-class season, this series comes at the perfect time especially with the new World Test Championship cycle only a couple months away,” remarked Miles Bascombe, Director of Cricket.
Additionally, this series will serve as the prelude to the highly awaited “Full Ah Energy” West Indies Home Series, which is set to commence in Barbados on June 25, 2025. Fans throughout the region can anticipate a full summer of elite international cricket, starting with this thrilling “A” team matchup. The West Indies “A” squad will be announced soon, while South Africa “A” is scheduled to arrive in Saint Lucia on May 16. With free admission, local pride at stake, and emerging stars in action, this is an event no cricket fan should miss, says Cricket West Indies.

The only Caribbean country you would get a reasonable crowd is Dominica, although this presnt Roosevelt Skerrit very corrupt dictatorship is very very much in a war with playing fields all across the country.
Who are the players on this ‘A’ team?
We need a few young batters of 17, 18 and 19 years. When will we produce another batting prodigy like B C Lara, the greatest the Caribbean has produced? Expose the young batting talents early. Presently there is a great paucity of quality batters in the region. For God sake expose them early!
It appears that a detractor mistook your cricket opinion for political rhetoric and was quick to smash the “dislike” button…LOL; however, to quote the great Nelson Mandela, “I Ahgreee” with your second and third paragraph sentiments wholeheartedly!!!
