West Indies takes on Nepal in T20I series

Cricket West Indies (CWI) has announced the region’s participation in a three-match T20 International series against Nepal. This series marks the first bilateral contest between the two teams and represents a notable development in efforts to expand and globalize the sport of cricket.

CWI shared that the matches will be held in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, on September 27, 28, and 30, 2025. The series is organized by the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) and provides an important opportunity for Nepal as it prepares for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier scheduled later this year.

CWI’s press release stated that its involvement reflects its ongoing commitment to supporting cricket development in emerging nations and fostering international partnerships with cricketing organizations worldwide.

“This series is more than just a set of international matches—it’s a celebration of the game’s expanding global footprint and a testament to what cricket represents: pride, purpose, and the power of unity. As a full-member nation, we see it as part of our responsibility to contribute to the development of cricket beyond our borders,” stated CEO Chris Dehring.

“Supporting Nepal in this key phase of their cricketing journey not only builds the sport at the grassroots and international levels but also reminds us of the deep pride and honour associated with representing our nation and wearing our national colours. We are proud to stand with Nepal at this moment in their history and look forward to exciting and competitive cricket in Sharjah,” he added.

The West Indies team, which CWI states is known for its historical success and dynamic style of play, is expected to field a competitive squad. The series offers Nepal valuable exposure ahead of its  World Cup qualifying campaign. Additionally, CWI promises that the matches present an opportunity for players and fans to experience international cricket in a lively, neutral setting.

CWI extends its appreciation to the Cricket Association of Nepal and the Emirates Cricket Board for their collaboration in organizing the series. The organization anticipates continued efforts to promote the growth and accessibility of cricket globally.

I though that you would have already tell us that neither Athanaze nor Hodge found favour with the selectors, to play against the touring Australians beginning the 25th of this month.

@MEME, same sentiments here. Mums the word I guess on the sacking of Athanaze and Hodge. Oh well, I guess the Bajans are thrilled with the placement of 7 compatriots on the roster.
