Cricket West Indies (CWI) today announced a dynamic 15-member squad set to take on Ireland and England in a series of One Day International (ODI) matches throughout May and early June. The highly anticipated tour marks the first limited overs assignment of the year for the West Indies team and is seen as a significant step in building towards the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2027.
The selected squad retains the core of players who achieved success in home series victories against England and Bangladesh at the close of 2024, providing a foundation of recent momentum. The tour will see the West Indies play three ODIs against Ireland from May 21 to 25, followed by three further ODIs against England from May 29 to June 3.
Head Coach Daren Sammy expressed his optimism about the upcoming matches and the opportunity to build upon the team’s recent performances. “These matches form a critical component towards the 2027 World Cup and there are signs of the team building consistency following the series sweep against Bangladesh and the win over England late last year,” Sammy stated.
Sammy also acknowledged the potential challenges the team may face, but emphasized the developing team culture and mindset. “We expect the conditions to be challenging but we are creating a culture and mindset which emphasize playing the brand of cricket that is taking us closer to some of our overall objectives,” he added.
In addition to the squad announcement, CWI also revealed changes to the coaching staff for the tour. Former West Indies fast bowler and member of the 2012 World Cup-winning squad, Ravi Rampaul, will join the team as Bowling Coach, replacing James Franklin. Furthermore, CWI will leverage the expertise of former Ireland allrounder Kevin O’Brien, who will be part of the coaching staff specifically for the Ireland leg of the tour.

Decent squad. Matthew Forde would not have made my team with an ODI batting average of 15.80 in 7 matches. From an optimistic standpoint, our brothers of the soil Athanze and Hodge should be guardedly hopeful about retaining their Test spots for the Aussie visit in June.
Sammy should include at least 2 of the following players in the test team to play Australia:
Brandon King , Evin Lewis, Shai Hope and Sherfane Rutherforde.
The article stated a squad of fifteen but only eleven mentioned. Who are the additional four? Or does that include some of the seven other support staff?
Firstly, please dont mislead cricket WI fans, this sqad is not strong [ although I wish them well]
secondly, who goes on tour with exactly a olaying eleven!!! NOT EVEN A 12TH MAN?
I totally agree about the Eleven players, unless they have not yet agreed on the remaining squad.
It is an opportunity for this seemingly unstable squad to prove us to be very wrong! An opportunity to make us eat our words and prove that they have the ability as growing cricketers.
I just wish them success.
