West Indies Women’s team faces minor adjustment for T20 International

Cricket West Indies (CWI) has revealed that the West Indies Women’s team will undergo just one personnel change ahead of the T20 International segment of their ongoing white-ball series against South Africa Women, scheduled from June 20 to June 23.

Following a tightly fought One Day International (ODI) series that resulted in a 2-1 victory for the visitors, the West Indies Women are now focused on regrouping and delivering a more impressive performance in the shorter format. The sole alteration to the squad involves the absence of seasoned player Stafanie Taylor, who is sidelined due to a shoulder injury sustained during the third and final ODI.

In her stead, Shawnisha Hector has been added to the T20I lineup, injecting new energy into the team. Hector, who made her ODI debut in 2019, was the first woman from Antigua to represent the regional side. She has not yet appeared in T20 Internationals.

The three-match T20I series will commence on Friday, June 20, at 2:00 PM at the historic 3Ws Oval in Barbados. The subsequent matches will be held at the same venue on Sunday, June 22, and Tuesday, June 24, as the team aims to recover with renewed determination.

Supporters are encouraged to attend and cheer for the Maroon Warriors, with free entry to all three matches.  Organizers stated that those unable to attend, live coverage will be available across the Caribbean and internationally on ESPN Caribbean.
