Winners of third annual Open Chess Tournament announced

A total of 13 participants took part in the 2024 Open Chess Tournament, held from March 8 to 13, 2025, at Dominica State College. Initially scheduled for December 2024, the event required rescheduling, according to a statement from the chess organization.

The competitors included: Claudio Sandford, Emmanuel Adeyeye, Yuvraj Jno Baptiste, Anthony Edwards, Tyrell Cuffy, Kijaney Peltier, George Butler, Adam St Ville, Liudmila Domennova, Engelvert Hernandez, Helric Passani, Edger Beridge, Nigel Francis.

Congratulations to the following players who secured top positions after 9 rounds of play:
1st place – Nigel Francis with 8.5 points
2nd place – Edger Berridge with 7.5 points
3rd place – Helric Passani with 7 points

The Dominica Chess Federation organizes an annual Open chess tournament, providing a platform for chess players of various skill levels to engage in a competitive environment and vie for trophies and prizes.

“We say kudos to all the participants who committed the time and effort to take part. Through your continued interest the Federation is able to fulfill its mandate to showcase and improve the game of chess on the island”, concluded the statement.
