Young athletes shine at Junior Fox Mile Road Race; Pioneers Club dominates

Medal winners in Junior Fox Mile Road Race

The Pioneers Athletics Club has announced the results of the Junior Fox Mile Road Race, held on Sunday, September 14. The event drew young athletes from across the island, competing in various age categories and representing several local clubs.

Overall Male Winners

  • 1st Place:Curvin Leatham (Pioneers Athletics Club) – 4:56.2
  • 2nd Place:Merrick Simon (DGS) – 5:16.9
  • 3rd Place:Cameron Ferreira (Pioneers Athletics Club) – 5:17.8

Overall Female Winners 

  • 1st Place:Akisha Luke (Pioneers Athletics Club) – 5:48.0
  • 2nd Place:Dahlia Guiste (DGS) – 5:54.4
  • 3rd Place:Nyola Alleyne (Striders Athletics Club) – 6:45.7

Under-11 Male Category

  • 1st Place:Jelani Dejean (Striders Athletics Club)
  • 2nd Place:Jeline Dejean (Striders Athletics Club)

Under-11 Female Category

  • 1st Place:Jaida Asudo (Pioneers Athletics Club)

  • 1st Place:Cameron Ferreira (Pioneers Athletics Club)

  • 3rd Place:Lindell Johnson (Pioneers Athletics Club)

Under-17 Female Category

  • 1st Place:Nyola Alleyne (Striders Athletics Club)
  • 2nd Place:Bertina Carrette (Pioneers Athletics Club)

Coach Cedric Harris of the Pioneers Athletics Club extended gratitude to all sponsors and participants, emphasizing the collaborative spirit that made the event a success.

“We want to thank our sponsors Benjo Seamoss, Ruben bakery, Daily Fresh, Ronald Charles and Associates,” he stated. Special thanks were also given to the Dominica Police Force for providing road escorts, ensuring the safety and smooth operation of the race.

The club’s next event, the 9th Bry Park Memorial 5K Run/Walk, is scheduled for October 19 at Bry Park. Organizers anticipate another strong turnout and continued enthusiasm for youth athletics across the island.
