Implementation of electoral reform to continue in early 2024

Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit has announced that Dominicans will see the advancement in the electoral reform process in the first quarter of 2024.

He made the disclosure during a press briefing this week.

Caribbean Jurist Sir Dennis Byron was tasked by the Government of Dominica to be the sole commissioner to advance efforts towards electoral reform in Dominica. His final report was presented to various groups and organizations including NGOs, media houses, churches, political parties, trade unions among others during a function held at the State House Conference Center on Wednesday, June 21.

Following the final presentation of the report these various groups and organizations participated in a series of consultations for electoral reform at various locations on the island on specific days.

“We will certainly see the process continuing in the first quarter of 2024,” Skerrit said. “I believe by January we would be in a position to present to the country the specific elements in the first phase to advance electoral reform.”

Skerrit continued, “And thereafter we will go to Parliament and have the laws enacted and give the electoral commission the authority to proceed with the implementation of the various components of electoral reform.”

He added, “We are certainly committed to do that, so in the first quarter of 2024 you will see advancement in this.”

Electoral reform has nothing to do with YOU. It’s none of your damn business. However, since you try to beat the propaganda drum, do tell us in your own words if you have found any of the ‘missing’ CBI money yet. Maybe you can tell us now, what happened to the 100 million dollar that Venezuela had to write of?

Mr Please take a pause and meditate upon yourself and ask yourself questions about your own self. My brother it is not late to come to the realization of yourself and ask your questions and if you can’t answer them yourself, look up and ask the God the Almighty the whatever it takes to answer. Mr Skerrit it is not late for you to be delivered from the spells of Satan. You definitely know what I am talking about. You know. You know. You know. For this new year ask God to renew a right spirit within you and release those whom you have held captive. Let the Dominican people go. Free them from the $70k monthly, give them back their $B4.2, and pay the people from whom you have possessed their land. Do the right and stop calling God’s name in vain.

Once again, Skerrit, if nobody stands up against you let me tell you, it’s none of your business. This is a matter for the electoral commission. Where are the two members of the ’opposition’? Have they lost their voice? Dominica is a well orchestrated monkey show for true. Didn’t I tell you all a year ago that dictatorship was well established already. All you in your sewo trance never noticed. Last person to leave, please switch the lights of.

@lil clown 🤡 I have been following your “contributions” on this medium and all your inputs are to stoke the fire but you can’t stand the heat. The day in which you might make a little sense is when Roosevelt becomes a private citizen again. You will cry your regrets to gain favor with the new government because you are a hungry parasite 🦠 who will suck the blood of any ruling party because you are mister Tommy Talker. Why don’t you occupy yourself in doing something productive? Why can’t you see and know right from wrong? Because you are a skimpy lazy greedy ignoramus selfish idiot.

Man you are just a Jacka,if the people were suffering as you want people to believe, the PEOPLE would remove Skerrit from office. That is common sense, although it is common you don’t have it.Do a survey,an honest survey and you will know, the majority of Dominicans are not INTERESTED in electoral reform.

    December 21, 2023

   Only a robust and determined opposition will make the electoral reform a reality. As it is presently there’s no light at the end of the tunnel, no glimmer of hope for the suffering people of Dominica. Our opposition party bears the same amount of blame as the labor party for the prevailing disgraceful conditions in which Dominica has been placed. Members of parliament are overly satisfied with the little salary they get with no sweat, and the business of doing their job is not their business. We need a shuffling in the members of the opposition. We need men and women with backbone. Don’t vote for any “handbags” or auto mechanics, nor folks who walk the streets looking work. Vote for candidates who are independent and established like Rosie Douglas. People who are not praying for the end of the month to come. People with education to battle those parasites. People who are able to communicate broadly with a world view of politics and will seek outside investors to…

Nothing this man would do to create an equal playing field with the electoral system for all the political parties. He is petrified of even the thought of residing behind bars if he loses.

Instead of allowing the electoral commission to commandeer the discussions on the reform process, it was he and his sycophants who were in full control. The end results of this process would be even more loopholes for corruption to flourish.

Everything that Roosevelt does is designed to give him and his party a monumental advantage. Has he in his twenty years at the helm of political power in Dominica done anything to strengthen or develop the political institutions or advance democracy? The answer is a resounding NO!

Starboy of Stupidity has usurped political power from the electoral officials; has defied all the norms pertaining to free and fair elections; has ruined Dominica’s democracy. The people asked for servant leadership but Roosevelt has given them dictatorship.
