The community of Salisbury is now in a state of mourning following the death of teenager from that area.
Dominica News Online (DNO) can confirm, that sometime after 2:00 p.m., moments after the Isaiah Thomas Secondary School (ITSS) pupil disembarked a bus he was struck by another vehicle.
The teenager is said to have been pronounced dead on the scene by a medical doctor.
DNO expresses condolences to the family and friends of the deceased and will provide an update to this story once it becomes available.
Left the mourn,I agree with you 150%.Another thing I have noticed,on the Roger road above the NBD.Drivers driving on the E O Leblanc stop and allow drivers on the Roger road the right of way. That is why there is a backup of vehicles all the was to Mahaut at rush hour in the morning.Pure madness.
One should never stop on or near a pedestrian crossing and once the pedestrian is on the crossing they have the right of way. If you knock someone on the crossing you are in deep trouble also without insurance. I drove a taxi in the UK for thirty years so I know the code of the road.
Driving without insurance is a cardinal sin in the U.K if you are caught the penalty is severe they are saying if you hit a child and you are not covered how are going to compensate the victim? Take heed our fellow drivers
There should be a school for drivers, especially drivers of public service vehicles.Recently one bite a little boy nose, because his fare was 25 cents short. It is so foolish to see a bus driver stop before a pedestrian crossing, put his right hand out and stop vehicles on the highway, just for passengers to exit and access the pedestrian crossing. The right thing is the bus stops, the passenger disembark, the bus leaves, the passenger look left then right to make sure it is safe to cross.Easy.
Condolences to the family on this tragic event.
When will the authorities take a proactive stand and begin to monitor and penalize reckless driving?
Sad so sad. My condolences to all. Let’s be careful on the road people, we don’t have to be always on high speed even if it’s a highway. Ways slow down when a bus stops. You never know if someone is crossing. When u are to fast this is what happens if you are driveing
Sad so sad. My condolences to all
THIS IS TOO MUCH!!!
That is so sad. My condolences to family and friends of the deceased.
I was recently in Dominica and really I am even surprised we are not having more of this kind of accident because so many times passengers have to get out of the bus/ car and have to cross the road most times at a stop close to a corner.
Another dangerous practice I noticed is drivers are stopping directly on the pedestrian lane to drop off or pickup passengers. That sort of thing prevents drivers behind them from seeing pedestrians crossing.
Then you on the highway and some stupid drivers just stopping on the highway to allow drivers from a minor road to enter traffic. It’s good to be kind but we need to understand that we are putting other motorists especially those behind us at risk.
Our roads are already dangerous but there should be an ongoing safety education going on by the traffic department to save lives. Drivers need to know when to stop and how to stop and pedestrians must also know when to cross and…
