Kalinago Territory congratulates its three athletes, and all delegates to Special Olympics in Berlin

Kalinago Special Olympians

The Special Olympics World Games welcomed over seven thousand Olympic athletes from 170 countries from June 17 – 25, 2023 in Berlin, Germany. One of its main objectives was to overcome prejudices with the power of sports.

Upon their return to the shores of Dominica, residents of the Kalinago Territory were jubilant about the athletics representation and achievements. An Ex-Parliamentarian and president of the Salybia Labor Party Constituency Association, Mr. Cassius Darroux echoed congratulations to the team, their coaches, and parents.

This is what Mr. Darroux had to say:

“I wish to congratulate the Dominica Special Olympic team for a job well done by bringing home five medals. The Kalinago people salute and celebrate with all of you. To the coaches and parents, we salute you for seeing the potential in this team. This is a testament that it doesn’t matter what the situation is, once you are determined, there is no
limit as to what you can achieve. Most importantly, we recognize the success of all, including Crispin Darly, Mr. Machael Detouch, and Miss Alexia Wade.

We would like to give special recognition to Mr. Agar Auguiste, Mr. Ricky Barry, and Miss Melissa Dupigny. Thank you for a good representation of yourself and the ‘First People’ of Waitukubuli. You are our heroes and ambassadors in your own capacity. We look forward to witnessing you all and many others achieving greater things in the immediate future. In all our ways, let us acknowledge the Lord and let Him direct our path. May we all get to know Him by utilizing the talents He has given to us to touch the lives of others and glorify His Name”.
