Dominica will be celebrating its 46th year as an independent nation. The irony is that most of its citizens are becoming more dependent on government for their very survival as more of them slip below the poverty line.
With the economy shrinking, good paying jobs disappearing, homelessness mushrooming, the country’s treasury hemorrhaging, there is little or nothing to celebrate. Self reliance has become just a mental illusion for the majority of resident Dominicans.
