Chairman of CARICOM and Dominica’s Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit says a mandate has been given for all outstanding negotiations to be completed by the end of August for Martinique and Curacao to become members of the Caribbean Community.

Skerrit made the remarks during an interview with reporters at the end of the 45th Heads of Government Conference in Port of Spain, Trinidad.

Both countries are expected to be formally welcomed to CARICOM at a special ceremony in Guyana.

Martinique and Curaçao will be associate members along with Anguilla, Turks and Caicos Islands, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, and Bermuda.

As associate members, both Martinique and Curaçao will be allowed to attend Heads of Government meetings. They will also be able to participate in talks and deliberations of CARICOM bodies that they are part of.

The CARICOM website indicates that associate members can be members of all CARICOM institutions except the Council of Foreign and Community Relations.

Meanwhile, Skerrit was asked by reporters whether Cuba and the Dominican Republic will be approached to join CARICOM.

However, Skerrit said that no formal discussions have been held in that regard.

“There were no formal discussions in respect to the Dominican Republic and Cuba but we believe in time to come they may very well become members of CARICOM,” he stated.

They must come together at some point. This is Biblical prophecy. Dominica is a “Christian Country” but denies the word of God. “The foolish things of God is wiser than man.” So keep posting your intellectual options but none of you can stop the move of God. We have evil hearts and minds; yet, we want to live in a garden of Eden. Perilous Times are here – We either serve God and be content, or waste time on things we have zero control over.

Good going Skerrit. I do welcome both Curacao and Martinique becoming members of the Caribbean Community. In so doing, we become a stronger force to reckon with and forging a greater Caribbean Community Network. Having said that, Do we need Ugly Willy Lenny and chicken-box Thomas Fontaine joining heads with Caribbean Leaders? A resounding NO. They are all blue monkeys and hyenas foraging around. Meta bolbay beck. Bona yeta ma. Tabong, tabong. They interviewed me, down in Curacao, I couldn’t talk but paplemento. 10 thousand fans, tv reporters; television network, tv cameras. In the mad rush, and in the get rush, they ask me so much questions, all I know is tabong. Curacao tabong.

Utter garbage. Must be coming from a real fool who needs schooling. After reading the comments from MEME and Ibo France, (two people who are obviously well schooled), why on God’s earth i even read this ignorance and rubbish. OMG!!

        @???

Don’t become agitated by the horse mature ds uses to pollute this forum. He is chronologically in his mid seventies but his mental age is that of a three year old. That’s exactly the reason he engages in toddler talk. Plus he is psychiatrically challenged.

In a few words, you are simply an illiterate. You would wish to do better, but you are academically handicapped. It’s clearly showing in ALL your posts.

This is man who claims to have two master degrees but stubbornly refuses to name the universities where he acquired these obviously bogus academic qualifications.

        He has done a Roosevelt.

I am very proud of my educational achievements. Too bad I never begged you for your help. You are just a disgruntled, frustrated, nobody person. It hurts you to see Skerrit doing better than you and being in a position that you can never aspire to. Skerrit will remain the PM of Dominica until we are ready to put him out which does not appear to be anytime soon. You must be jealous of my degrees, aren’t you? I am doing well , got everything that I need, live in a gated community, making money with my degress. Happy to be alive. Hope you are.

Proud of your education…? Graduated as a Latrine Diver for the white man in Uncle Sams country. I would be ashamed! But then again, you are a Skerrit supporter!!!

In any organisation, it is not the quantity that is most important, it’s the quality that counts.Adding Curacao and Martinique to extend the count of associated states to seven (7) is of little consequence if CARICOM remains aloof.

CARICOM will be more impactful on the lives of its citizens, the lying, dishonesty, insularity, fakery, chicanery must stop among the different jurisdictions.

CARICOM is bereft of quality leadership. To have a new chairman that has demolished every industry, sector, democratic practice, the judicial system in his own country is simply unacceptable. Having Roosevelt as leader of anything is like having a flat tire on your vehicle, you are not going anywhere.

Very very unlikely that Cuba will join a grouping like CARICOM!!!
It would be a backward move by Cuba, when BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China
and South Africa) could benefit them one TRILLION times more!!
BRICS is the global grouping that scores of countries are on a waiting list to join.
BRICS countries make up more than 40% of the world’s population, more than 26% of world’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP), is projected to be more powerful than the G7 grouping in the medium term, its New Development Bank (NDB), rivals the IMF, etc, etc, etc,…What CARICOM!!! I am yet to see how CARICOM is fighting hunger, climate change, unemployment, hopelessness, white collar crime by its corrupt leaders in the region, in any meaningful way!!
Lots of babble by CARICOM heads, nothing else!!

Your last sentence is the only thing these grossly incompetent, traitorous CARICOM misleaders do expertly well – engage in loud and frivolous pontification.
