As news of the passing of media personality, Ferdina Frampton circulates, expressions of sorrow and condolences continue pouring in from all corners of the nation as her warmth and dedication to her craft left an indelible mark on Dominica’s media landscape.
She passed away at the Dominica-China Friendship Hospital (DCFH) on Wednesday, January 17, 2024.
In a Facebook post today, Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit expressed sincere condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of the late Ferdina Frampton.
“Prime Minister, Hon. Roosevelt Skerrit and the staff of the Office of the Prime Minister are deeply saddened by the passing of Ferdina Frampton, a luminary in the media industry,” according to a post on the Prime Minister’s Facebook page. “Her exceptional contributions to broadcasting and telecommunications in Dominica were unparalleled.”
The post said further that as the charismatic host of the ‘In the Spotlight Radio Show’ and a key figure at Flow Dominica, Ferdina’s passion for media and community engagement touched many lives. Her vibrant personality, professionalism, and commitment to excellence set a benchmark for media practitioners in Dominica.
“Her loss is a profound one for the media fraternity and for our country, and she leaves behind an enduring legacy,” he said. “We extend our heartfelt condolences to her family, friends, colleagues, and all who were inspired by her remarkable career.”
He continued, “Her memory and impact will forever resonate in Dominica’s media landscape, and in our hearts.”
In another Facebook post, wife of Prime Minister Skerrit, Melissa Poponne- Skerrit also expressed great sadness at the passing of Ferdina.
She described her as a “beautiful soul” and prayed for solace in this time of sadness for her loved ones.
“On a personal note, all of my Amnesia team members are immensely saddened by her passing as we all remember her unwavering support through the years. As evident by the public statements made on social media throughout yesterday Ferdina will be sorely missed by many,” Poponne-Skerrit stated. “May she rest in peace, may the Lord comfort those she has left behind and may she live long in the memories of those who loved her dearly.”
Meanwhile, Parliamentary Representative of the Soufriere constituency Denise Charles-Pemberton through a Facebook post expressed deep sadness on the passing of Ferdina.
“I am deeply saddened by the passing of our beloved Ferdina Frampton, a towering figure in the media field and a person of immense kindness and humility,” she said.
Charles-Pemberton said she had known Ferdina since her teenage years.
“She, along with her sister Gail, [was] involved in numerous groups, a passion likely inspired by her father, the late Ferdinand Frampton, who chaired the Pointe Michel Village Council,” she noted. “My memories of those days are fond and vivid, marked by a close-knit community where every child was welcome in any home and where guidance and discipline were communal.”
Furthermore, she said Ferdina’s passing leaves a profound void, reminiscent of the one left by her father, and that her absence will be deeply felt by all who knew her and were touched by her remarkable spirit.
“My sincere and heartfelt condolences to her family and siblings, friends, management, and staff of flow and media professionals,” Charles-Pemberton stated.
