Miss Dominica 2013, Lesslassa Armour-Shillingford is currently getting set to compete in the 2013 Miss Jaycees pageant in Antigua and according to her chaperone Carla Armour, preparations thus far have been “fantastic.”
She will first participate in the 2013 Miss Jaycees pre-show scheduled for Thursday night where eight contestants will be selected to move on to compete in the finals on Friday night.
Carla Armour told DNO that the reigning Miss Dominica will appear as number 5.
“We feel very ready for the show and we are excited,” she said. “There are girls here all the way from Guyana to the United States so it should be a nice competition. Everything is on stream and we thank our Dominican community for reaching out and supporting Lesslassa”
Armour-Shillingford is also expected to compete in the Miss Caribbean Culture Pageant in Nevis on August 5th and just like the pageant in Antigua, Armour said that Lesslassa is ready.
Lesslassa recently captured the 2013 Miss Carival title in St Vincent walking away with the awards for Ms. photogenic, best tallent, best evening wear and best inteview.
Armour urged the public to keep Lesslassa in their prayers and encouraged them to show their support.
Again, I recognize and thank the efforts of the family of Miss Shillingford for providing moral, psychological and financial support. More than the support of the DFC.
Hello. Did she marry a Shillingford then they will support her. They own enough businesses in Dominica so they can provide the financial support. We will provide the moral support to her and hope for the best.
which Shillingfords that own so many businesses in Dominica Tony? You are a sick pervert. The child father is a hillinford and her mother an Armour she carries both last name. You are out of touch with Dominica.
All the best Miss DA. put your best foot forward and please don’t be intimidated by anyone.
I’m really surprised to see negative comments here. This girl is representing DOMINICA. Can we be positive and supportive?
THREE WORDS: I love you!!!!!!
I said it before and I will reiterate, Leslassa, will capture the title in Antigua. She is blessed with beauty, intelligence and talent. She has class, walks gracefully and is humble, therefore, she will continue to put her Country on the map. Let us support the young lady, by encouraging her to continue to bring out the best in her. Leslassa, please do not be discouraged by the critics, instead, be more determined to achieve success. One Love!
How would you feel to see Miss Dominica 2013 at Miss Universe and Miss world the last time Dominica took part is in 1985 when Margret Rose Cools latigue was Miss Dominica its time for us to go international we have taken advantage of the Regional Pageants we have won over and over and when we don’t win were are 1st Runner up so our Beauties can go International
I totally agree just like you and almost everyone else.
However, what are we Dominicans, friends of Dominica and honorary Dominicans brainstorming in order for this to become a reality?
I seem to remember that every year around this time for several years now that I can recall, people are calling for this to happen but then those wishes just go cold till the following year.
I do recall during the reigns of some of the outstanding Miss Dominica title holders (we all know who they are), previous suggestions were made for each Dominican, Honorary Dominican and Friends of Dominica, to agree to donate a $EC1, £1, €1, $CAN1 and $US1 towards a fund to raise the fees that will enable Miss Dominicas to participate in International pageants like “Miss Universe”, “Miss World” and “Miss Earth” to help promote the “Nature Isle”, but obviously as of now that hasn’t taken flight or come to fruition.
As said before I’d be willing to donate my £1 towards this for our representatives but how many others out there including yourself are willing to do likewise?
The COC could do well to set up a bank account that will enable Dominicans in and around the globe to contribute their donation by setting up pay pal on the net for this.
All the best Lesslassa in the forthcoming regional competitions and here’s hoping you get to go to the International pageants, as I so wished for the previous title holders as well.
Love the way you’ve pulled your hair back in that stunning, chic look, which accentuates your natural features and shows off that side profile too. Best wishes! X
PS: I’ll be listening over the internet if I can stay awake. lol:
come on people please give support to our Queen as she is about to bring home Miss Jaycees 2013 on Friday night .And on Monday night she will be doing another show is Nevis for Miss Culture Caribbean she need all our support as she is doing pageants back to back .After this two pageants is preparations for Miss Universe and Miss World 2013. BEST WISHES TO LESLASSA FOR TWO SUCCESSFUL UPCOMING PAGEANTS. DOMINICA IS BEHIND YOU ALL THE WAY!!!
Thats my girl Its all yours I will be screamingGo DA
When will women stop being objectified through these shows and commercials?
When will Muslim women realize there’s an outside world and they don’t have to stay home and cook and clean just for their husbands because they are all human a like and they can go out in society and stop covering their face up even in this heat?!!!
Get back in your little box under that huge rock you crawled out of!
When you lot stop treating women as 10th class citizens and not objects to breed and slave in the kitchen then you can pass judgment.
If you don’t agree pageants then by all means that’s alright but do not try to insult others in the process.
In a democracy just as you are entitled to voice your disagreement with such pageants, its the same way those participants are entitled to participate in such competitions whether or not you agree or find them wrong.
All the very best young lady and others to come in the future.
Love her. But why is it that she never speaks for herself. Who is her chaperone? Let the girl handle herslef. She seems childish to me when they do that.
I’m sorry but not many young girls in Dominica can relate to her. Most of us can’t have our family sponsor us, neither do we come from a silver spoon. Also i know that the other 6 girls did pageantry for a scholarship in order to lift themselves from poverty. Her on the other hand, i guess wanted a year of fame and a few crowns. I wonder if she knows the struggle that young women in Dominica face. Atleast Nadira came from humble beginnings and was an inspiration to many kalinago young women. However I do wish her luck. Ask for the prayers not so sure why they would request them.
that is not tru!!! and get ur facts straight eh fella. If u watched her interveiw she was doing it for the a much needed scholarship! just because u see a surname then. stuppes
Stop being a hater and wearing your badge of ignorance. You want to blame the young lady for the wealth of her family and their hard work in obtaining it? So we only give our support to girls competing as you say for “scholarships”…real ignorance we have to support ALL our girls as they represent Dominica when they go out there.
the hating never ends in this “small” island
This Girl is on Fire the light will shine on Friday and Monday as we awaits a Motorcade with one head and coming back with 2 crowns lets just wait and see
All the way with Lassa!
Miss caribbean culture in Nevis? Well they are desperate for crowns papa. Is it a competition to see who can capture more titles as miss D/ca. I was liking Leslassa at the beginning but she is turning into a Nadira. Desperate for attention and both are beginning to irritate me. I have never seen so many pictures of a person in a crown like Nadira puts up and people keep liking them which is encouraging her.
Shut da hell up!!! every year our girls participate in Ms Caribbean World, Miss Jaycees, Miss Carival and Miss Caribbean Culture.. Marah won it, Leandra won it.. When you dont know your history, its not good to show off your ignorance and hypocrisy! SAkway Toneh!
you forget to include jealousy!
Jealousy that doing that! Close your eyes when you see the pics… idiot!
GOOD LUCK LESLASSA! and May You make these haters and ignorant folks walk in shame for your successes!!
stop hating! You should do something productive than to sit behind an anonymous caption and critic all actions of the former and past queens. Its a lot of hardwork and seeing they are not adequately compensated they should raise awareness of themselves and their profiles to allow future opportunities. Additionally, it helps them to promote their charity organization.
I agree with you, Young and Talented
What happen you jealous? All I have to say is fox and grapes honey!
God bless…just do your best in each segment…
In our prayers for a pageant? what chochonee is that? She’s healthy and strong and running for a PAGEANT, she’s not sick so what nonsense is that? These folks kill me.. Anyway may the best girl win…
Ok whateva looser hater! bcuz is not your girl that going…..
In everything put God first..including a pageant.!!!!
