MP for Salisbury Jesma Paul: Government has neglected her constituency in providing housing benefits

Parliamentary Representative of the Salisbury Constituency, Jesma Paul-Victor has argued that her constituency has not benefited from the government’s housing project.

Her comments came while speaking at Parliament recently.

“Government has allocated millions in capital spendings to the Ministry of Housing  with the intentions of constructing new homes  as I stated a while ago and strengthening communities, yet despite the substantial allocations Mr. Speaker, funds approved by this very parliament none of which was spent in my constituency,” she insisted.

According to her, 8 years after Hurricane Maria families in the Salisbury Constituency, that is Coulibistrie to be exact, continue to live in deteriorating structures, partially repaired houses and temporary arrangements which were meant to be short-term.

“While other communities have received modern apartment complexes, climate resilient units and housing settlement which Mr. Speaker as I said that I support the housing project and I congratulate the recipients of this houses, everyone deserves to be happy, everyone deserves to be comfortable, my constituents continue to wait,” Paul-Victor remarked.

She continued, “The question I would like to ask is, how long can my people endure to wait and how long can they endure to live in such conditions? It’s been 8 long years, Mr. Speaker.”

She went on to add, “My people feel forgotten, they feel unseen and they feel as though they are suffering since Maria has been normalized and dismissed.”

The reason the people of Salisbury are not voting DLP is because they are SURE the DLP government cannot help them,so why talk about neglect. The people of Salisbury has not voted DLP since 2000 for that very same reason.

“If you not red, you dead”!
That Labour party comment, after a hurricane, by the late, vile, wicked, bias, Labour party Speaker of the House, should have been enough reason to vote Labour party out of managing the affairs of Dominica. There is a special place in hell for these wicked Labour party people!

Agreed! The problem with Dominica is its people. These people seem to love their OPPRESSORS. Bar-Rob-Us and his oafish parasites are nothing more than self-centered skunks.

Not just 8 yrs after Maria Madam Parl Rep, but actually from 10 years after Erica. The one place in Dominica where the terrain looks just like it was after the both disasters.
The one small motorable bridge connecting the divide betweens the southern and northern parts of the village remain in ruins and impassable to vehicles from since Erica.. A most glaring and shameful act of neglect if there ever was of a community in its post disaster era. The same houses have sustained repeated flooding up to this year after the river overflowed it’s banks
The prime minister owes an apology to the people of that community which was my home during Erica.

Seeing and knowing all of this, it’s mind boggling as to how any reasonable human being can support Roosevelt and his operatives.

How could a prime minister use tax dollars to live in a palatial mansion, drive around in the most luxurious vehicles, go on excursions all over the globe, while so many of his country men, women and children live in dire poverty?

Roosevelt is so set for the rest of his life by feeding from the trough, if he stacks his money made as a civil servant in US $1notes, they will touch the moon. Wickedly selfish!

God does not sleep, neither does He like ugly. Comrade Ralph thought that he would have died in the seat of power, that he was invincible. He thought he was too popular, too strong, to be evicted from office by the people. Roosevelt is like minded.

I fear for Dominica for I know God is just and will not hold back His wrath forever. In whatever you do, do good, and let it be pleasing in the sight of God.

Wake up Dominicans! You have been asleep far too long with your eyes wide open. United we stand, divided we fall. Roosevelt is so despicable. He uses the resources of the country for his selfish political gains. That’s a fact!

Why should only those who support the Labour Party benefit from the finances and resources of the State? Aren’t all those who were born in this land Dominicans and are entitled to the same privileges regardless of their political affiliation?

This weaponization of the highest office of government against those citizens and residents who do not support the incumbent political party has to stop. A country divided against itself can never fulfil its God-given potential.

We have been practising this Divide and Rule strategy since we gained adult suffrage. How much has that contributed to our development as a people and a nation? NADA!

    When will we learn?
