National Co-operative Credit Union Ltd Grand Fond sub office reopens

Prayer of blessing – Rev. Jules Pascal

Members of the National Co-operative Credit Union Ltd (NCCU) in Grand Fond can once again access the full, wide range of products and services offered by the NCCU.

In 2017, a mere two months after officially becoming part of the NCCU “One Big Family”, Hurricane Maria struck causing major damage to the building and equipment. On Wednesday June 9th, 2021 after almost a four (4) year closure, the sub-office re-opened its doors to the public albeit for one (1) day a week basis in the first instance.

Following a blessing over the ceremony, those present and a prayer of safety and no ill-will over the employees and office building by Pastor of the Grand Fond Radiant Life Fellowship, Rev. Jules Pascal, Treasurer of the NCCU Board of Directors Mr. Euan James welcomed all those present at the ceremony. Mr. James invited everyone to take advantage of the products and services which are now available to them in a much closer location.

Mr. Aylmer A. Irish, CEO of NCCU, marked the reopening as one which brings the institution great joy as the members of the area had been inquiring and requesting that services be made available again. “We look forward to you the members engaging with us to best determine the hours of operation for the office so whilst one day is little, based on the amount of time the community has been without the services of the Credit Union, we thought it best to open.”

Honorable Parliamentary Representative for the area Ms. Gretta Roberts commended the NCCU for keeping its word and reopening the office and encouraged members to make use of the opportunity now available of the products and services and cited that an increase in traffic would in fact lead to an increase in business hours and even employment opportunities.

The hours of operation will be 8am – 3pm every Wednesday.

I wonder who approved the tiling of the entrance steps? With the amount of rainfall that we receive on island annually, this is a hazard waiting to happen. This entrance also doesn’t facilitate those who are differently abled. A different type of tile could easily avoid slips and falls.
