A message from Colin Piper, CEO, Discover Dominica Authority on the tragic passing of Daniel Langlois and Dominique Marchand

Colin Piper

It is with a heavy heart that we, at the Ministry of Tourism and the Discover Dominica Authority, extend our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Daniel Langlois and Dominique Marchand, on their tragic passing. Their loss leaves an irreplaceable void not only in our lives but also in the heart of Dominica and the global sustainable tourism community.

Daniel and Dominique were more than just pioneers; they were visionaries who dared to dream of a balance between luxury and sustainability. Their passion and commitment to this cause transformed Coulibri Ridge into a beacon of green tourism, earning them global recognition and a host of accolades. Their legacy has set a benchmark for others to aspire to.

Their enthusiastic participation in trade and consumer shows with the Discover Dominica Authority (DDA) brought Dominica’s rich cultural heritage and natural beauty to the forefront of the global stage. Their unwavering support for DDA and active involvement in various promotional events have been instrumental in shaping Dominica’s tourism landscape.

The Government of Dominica takes every incident involving its citizens, residents, and visitors to the island very seriously. It appears that this was an isolated incident, the local authorities are actively investigating, and suspected individuals have been apprehended and are currently in custody. Despite this occurrence, Dominica remains a safe place to live, work, and visit.

As we grapple with the pain of their loss, we also celebrate the extraordinary lives they led and the indelible mark they left behind. Their memory will be a guiding light as we continue our journey towards promoting sustainable tourism in Dominica. The footprint of their absence will etch deeply in our hearts, while their spirit, like a gentle whisper in the wind, will continue to resonate within us forever and always.

May their souls find the path to eternal peace, a haven of quietude, and everlasting serenity.

you still have not commented on the roof that fell on patrons at the WCMF.. but here you are giving comments on investors.
we are all sad by this situation, and we surely will miss Daniel and Dominique.
but do remember, the first and main investors of a country are its people – the people you choose to ignore !!!

Please note, that as one of the patrons who the roof fell on that Saturday night, I do not need an apology or statement from DDA or Piper regarding that unfortunate event. WHY? because i know fully well that that area was operated and managed and set up by a private organisation, and if anything i should and would be requesting a statement from Nexconnex as they were responsible for it.

As the Director for Tourism, Piper is very much expected to make a statement about a situation that involves two foreign entities who are BOTH certified tourism entities of DDA. It would be prudent for him to do so. while many of us may not like piper or dda or the min or tourism or the government, please note that he is very much expected to speak on this. Otherwise if not, we would have found a problem with his silence too.

This is so sad! these victims were crying for help and these people in authority never came to their aid. To all those in authority – your crocodile tears are just that……..

Allu did not stop their “bully” – you were in bed with their bully. He was bullying everyone and you guys never stopped him. He took their lives and now allu talking. did you talked for them when they were crying for you to stop his bully?

Their crying blood is on allu (PM, so-called minister of Justice, Police commissioner)- there are many other similar cases of bullying going in Dominica and the victim is at their mercy. Our justice system is a joke, files and cases linger for decades and when judgement is given the bully just continue with no punishment, but you are quick to arrest and prosecute persons who are stand up for justice.

You of all people involved need to shut up, if you’re to dumb to know that small Nevis is a dependency of St. kitts, population might be near five thousand people , nevertheless, you boast you were going to Nevis to get help; getting more passenger flights into Dominica.
If you were not dumb, you would know that international flights don’t originate in Nevis, the suffered the same fate from LIAT!
Even if you said you were looking for help from St. Kitts, that would also a very stupid thought!
You need to be quiet, stop talking nonsense, who care about about message?
You are shallow with nothing significant to offer, you are not even a token in my book!
You are less than a waste of time.
Your message and the government must bear the responsibility for the deaths of the victims.
Shut up nobody cares about the trash you spew. If government corruption was not over common in the country, they’d have time to take care of easement that would prevent people talking such actions.

All very well, but the victims were not tourists and did a lot of good for the community they lived in, and the Country as a whole. Judging from Colin Piper’s words.
Why no statement from the Prime Minister?

I agree. Why is our PM taking so long to come out and make a public statement condemning this heinous crime and the sick Americans we understand to have perpetrated it? Daniel and Dominique have contributed so much to Dominica, yet were not protected from these thugs who continually blocked the public access road to their facility, threatened their workers and cut their fiber optic cable. These are disgusting excuses for human beings and should have no place in peace loving Dominica.
