LONDON – Cops have arrested four people after a schoolboy was stabbed to death by a gang after a fight over a BlackBerry mobile phone, it was claimed today.
Relatives paid tearful tributes to talented young musician Negus McClean — and said they would even pray for his killers.
The 15-year-old’s cousin, Noel, called for an end to knife crime and claimed Negus was protecting his young brother when he died.
Fighting back tears after laying flowers at the scene of the attack in Edmonton, North London, the 25-year-old said: “It was just a disgusting act of violence.I pray that a change happens, I pray for the guy that did this to my cousin.”
The “intelligent and mature” youngster was preparing to celebrate his 16th birthday in two weeks and was hoping to embark on a career as a rapper after leaving school, relatives said.
Just to enlighten everybody, this is being reported as two brothers who had a previous confrontation with another gang of unruly boys. The two brothers were being chased by the gang and one brother was trying to protect his younger brother from the gang. The younger brother fell over and was beset by the gang who in a frenzied attack on the young man stabbed him a number of times and beat him with an iron bar to boot. The older brother however came back and stayed with him trying to resuscitate him until help arrived.
Medical staff got him to a hospital nearby but he later succumbed to his injuries.
Six arrests have already been made and more are expected.
We await the outcome of the police investigation and hope that these scum will be brought to justice. Long life sentences seems to be the order of the day for these kinds of crime, so watch this space.
Some people are saying that we should bring back the rope to put a stop to these killings but these are kids killing kids.
DNO, I am disappointed in your reporting of this story. You have jumped the gun on this as the police are still carrying out an investigation. In any case this is being locally reported as a gang related killing and the mobile phone is just one of the possible factors being investigated as an issue in the case.
I used to live in Edmonton and still live in London near to Enfield Borough which is and has been proliferated by street crime, gangs and gangland killings for a very long time now. In fact it is at the centre of the Met police strategy on knife crime and “black on black” crime. Called operation Trident it is trying to find out and get to grips with what the hell is going on in London with these kids and careless reporting such as you have done here only serves to detract from the underlying issues we are faced with over here. It is sensational and unbecoming of a medium I have come to respect.
Please double check your facts first in the future.
This is meant as a sincere crticism.
i alwayz tell my children if somebody demand for your blackberry or ipod or what ever it is just give it up .i will buy another one but i cannot replace them(.well my son did not accept it just like that)
It’s ridiculous that one would lose there life over such (material things)… however… people are killed for the stupidest of things…. i am certain that this young man could have just been robbed via intmidation and left to live another day…… stabbed to death…..
Its rather strange that DNO doesn’t have reports bout a stabbing incident at SMA… where one student stabbed a teacher for giving him a “ZERO” on his paper…. So…. to me… being stabbed for a zero is much more severe than a cell phone…..
DNO…. go local… rather than international… but good work anywaysz!!!
Admin: was the matter reported to the police? We normally go with police reports to substantiate whatever happened. Additionally if we are not alerted by citizens like you, we wouldn’t know. We cannot be everywhere at the same time. But thanks for this info. We will have one of our reporters look into it,. Hope the incident did not occur a long time ago.
well smart phones is the new bling bling,,,,, even on trains among people u get robbed,,, people are asked to keep their phones concealed in public
This is such utter rubbish.
How do you conceal a phone? what if it rings? what i you want to make a call? Some people just make things up. I travel on trains everyday and have never heard of anybody being robbed for a phone on the train. Think about what you are saying. If a person robs another of a phone on the train, how do they get away?
Jump off the train?
for his own phone!!!! lord have mercy well is a good thing them places doesn’t have pity on murders… they will pay, he left everything undone, he didn’t get a chance to say good bye to his family… may he RIP
Lord Have Mercy !!!!
