Agriculture Minister mourns the death of Ricky Allport

Walter

Dominica’s Agriculture Minister Matthew Walter said the death of Former Director of agriculture Ricky Allport is a major blow to the struggling sector.

Allport died last night at the Intensive Care Unit of the Princess Margaret Hospital from a suspected case of leptospirosis.

“One behalf of my family and the ministry of agriculture, I wish to extend my deepest condolences to Mrs. Allport and his family and friends. We are indeed saddened. When I visited him at the ICU yesterday morning, I had great expectations that he would have overcome the illness but he did not,” Walter said.

According to Walter, Allport was an asset to the industry.

“It came as a shock to me. I have known him over the past four years and a humble, caring and astute gentleman. Moreover he was a technically sound agriculture officer who contributed meaningfully to the advancement of agriculture. We will surely miss him,” Walter added.

To the Allport Family, especially to Ruth, Reisha, Roberta and Rohaan. I must say that the passing of my very good friend, Ricky, has come to me as a shock. Today, at more than 2 months of his leaving this earth I found out. I am still in shock at the news. I am from Belize and Ricky and I studied together in Taiwan when we were doing our Master’s Degree. Ricky was a very intelligent, caring, happy, and supportive person. We were a crew of 4 inseparable friends. We had a great 2 years, through which he always spoke to us about his family. He was a proud husband and dad. I thank God for having given me the opportunity to have known him. I have informed our school and other friends, who have all responded in shock. We will sadly miss him. We pray that his family, especially his wife and kids find the strength to go on, as I am sure that is what Ricky would want. May my best buddy RIP.

Mr. Allport was a sound Agriculturist with deep interest in his field. He had a passion for exotic fruits. He was in the process of expanding his horticultural operation. Its had to accept his death but only God knows. May his wife Ruth, children Reicha, Roberta and Rohan be strengthened and protected by the lord. True friend to me .

Mr Allport was one of my senior managers as I worked in the division of Agriculture under Mr. Oliver Grell who was director at the time. Mr Allport was a sincere, caring person; very easy to talk to with a welcoming smile! I am indeed sad to hear this news & truly wish I could attend his funeral! May his soul R I P a true Agricultural leader! Loved & respected this gentle man

To the family of Mr. Allport, take courage & keep trusting in the Lord! His memories will live on forever!

Mr. Allport did run his race in the Ministry of Agriculture, yet still the Minister still did not see it fit to appoint him as Director of Agriculture. May the Lord strengthen the Allport family in this time of loss. The pray that the staff of the ministry of Agriculture will continue the task that Mr. Allport began. all the Best

My heartfelt sympathy to the family of Ricky Allport.
In our earthly life, there are matters which are inexplicable to us and beyond our understanding why a life has been taken away. A loving God knows best. One day it will all be revealed to us.
May you be consoled with those few words.
God bless you, console you and give you strength in faith as you grieve the loss of your loved one.
May he rest in peace. Amen!

It is with a hurting heart that i write these words to a fallen comrade and friend. Words cannot begin to explain what your love for Agriculture meant to us. You had an insatiable thirst for knowlege that we will try to emulate, you were our walking library. We could ask you any question and you had an answer, and if you did not you would find it for us. Our many discussions in the “think tank” on societal problems, problems within the ministry or the Public service for that matter, family issues, Agriculture, and the many many discussions about life. Stanley, you made a mark in my life, you will never be forgotton. Even when i feel like giving it all up, I will remember you and plough forward. I feel like you cheated me, we had so much more to do in the Ministry and you left. you gave me so much support brother, and you are no longer there. Such is life, RIP brother, work well done.

Think this should be a wake up call for the authorities to provide the necessary resources for the PMH to stock up with the drugs that can cure and prevent illness that endanger peoples lives, it sad that in te 21st century an illness like this could not be attended. To the Alport family my condolences and may you all be forever blessed
