Ashton Gibbons’ funeral today

Ashton Gibbons

The body of 26-year-old Guyanese born Ashton “Gold Teeth” Gibbons will be laid to rest this afternoon.

The funeral ceremony is scheduled for 2 p.m. at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Marigot.

Ashton was found stabbed to death in a vehicle with half of his body hanging out from the driver’s side on July 9 at a garage near the Melville Hall Airport.

Gibbons had resided in Dominica since he was nine-years-old.

His mother, Joycelyn Gibbons, who is the family nurse practitioner in Marigot, described him as a cool person.

“He’s a very cool, quiet individual. He’s soft spoken and friendly,” she said.

Gibbons attended the Dominica State College.

To the Gibbons family: May the Good Father and Creator give you the strength you will need to see you through yet another trial. I ask him for comfort enough for you from day to day and the peace in knowing that he is still in control. All we have is the hope in knowing he cares and sees and will bring justice in his time. God bless and keep you even more united with each other.

    PEACE

I want to extend my greatest sympathy to the Gibbon’s family, with the hope that God will see them through with strength, courage, and blessing as they face with the lost of their son. I know what the family 1s going through at this time, because in 2005 I went through the same fate I recieved a phone call in New York City imforming me my son was killed, and the murder walked away free. Once again I call on the Government of Dominica to do more to stop this madness of killings in Dominica. I remember growing up in Dominica as a little boy, but never heard of so many killings in Dominica. This left me with one opinion that our criminal justice system is not working and need to be reviewed by our Court System, the Police Department, the Attorney General and our law makers. Because if we failed to act and take the inititative steps to pass laws by pushing those criminial all we are doing is give a license to kill, and the consequence of our action will not only affect the lives of those that are already a victim, but also that which is to come. MY basic fear is that when innocent blood began to run down the street of Dominica, then God will hear the cry of those innocent victims, For example Cain Killed Able God heard Able Cry, and the question was where is thy Brother Able? What our criminal justice system fails to do, God will do: God will take revenges for them. So I call on our government to take quick action to help this young men and women to get jobs, and education which will help them to be accepted amoung society. Dominica is too small in population for our court system unable to contorl this type of killings in the Island. Neither the Gibbons family, myself and others should have to go through life with pain knowing that our child have been murder.

    Ms. Gibbon’s

God loves, and may his blessing be with you and your faminl. My prayers goes out to you all. Leroy

what moves through us is a silence,a quiet sadness,a longing for one more day,one more word, one more touch,we may not understand why u left this earth so soon, or why you left before we were ready to say goodbye, but little by little, we begin to remember not just that u die but that you lived. and that your life gave us memories too beautiful to forget.
    rest in peace ashton!

Ashton, words cannot express what or how we feel. You were a gem, on of the sweetest men that I’ve ever known, and now you’re one more flower in God’s beautiful boquet. You may be gone in body, but you will always be in our hearts and minds. If tears could bring you back, then we’d cry rivers. Yet, all we have now are momories, of your laugh, your smile, how you made us feel, and for that we’ll forever love you.

If tears could build a stairway
    and thoughts a memory lane
I’d walk right up to heaven
    and bring you home again
    No Farewell words were spoken
    No time to say good-bye
You were gone before I knew it
    And only God knows why.

My heart’s still active in sadness
    And secret tears still flow
What it meant to lose you
    No one can ever know.
But now I know you want us
To mourn for you no more
To remember all the happy times
Life still has much in store.

    Since you’ll never be forgotten
    I pledge to you today
A hallowed place within my heart
    Is where you’ll always stay.

God knows why, with chilling touch,
Death gathers those we love so much,
And what now seems so strange and dim,
Will all be clear, when we meet Him.
I Knew you for a Moment
