All but one individual has been released from the Princess Margaret Hospital after three buses collided on Fond Baron public road Monday afternoon, police have said.
Seven passengers from one of the buses had been injured and treated in hospital, Police Public Relations Officer Kenth Matthew said in a report today.
He reported that two of the buses headed east towards Bellevue Chopin, first collided and subsequently hit another, which was headed west.
“Seven passengers on bus registration number HB577, driven by Trevor Baron of Petite Savanne, were injured. They were all treated at the Princess Magaret Hospital, but only Leon Birmingham of Dubique was admitted,” Matthew said.
He said the buses who were headed east to Bellevue Chopin, were “substantially damaged.”
some of US drivers need to take it light because sometimes you on your own scene and someone just hit you and boom there you go.i mean is not rags we carrying eh, how would you like to be at work and to get a news that someone of yours just died in an accident? and for those of us that like to run to d negative, now is not the time for that now is the time to embrace the drivers and families of those hurt man.alas. tears.it could be you next in a worst scene eh
driving in Dominica is like being in a war zone. Its like no one have road manners. I visited Dominica a few months ago and I tell you i was afraid for my life. I crossing the street with my baby and a man driving up behing me not even giving me a chance to pass. Someone needs to do something about that cause if not their will continue to be countless road accidents….

Dominica full of it,from bus drivers to motorcyclist,to car drivers even food services delivery boys like, Pizza hut and PERky’s drivers too. well! we call dem in my neighbourhood, drivers without caution and all dem new road those chinese building der is call and cause for disater accident, cause for those reckless drivers its just another race track(new road more speed). grandbay bus drivers are the worst of it men, those fellas there competing for a five dollar bill, so they have to race up and race to play who can get the most people on board,p[lain and simple dem drivers to greedy for money and think is one set to eat a bread,i dont know why dem fellas not goin an find some other job to do,cause people like dem jus putting other peoples lives in danger. i drive that road quite frequently and pray everytime i leave my home. i am cautious driver who observe laws re driving but i am well aware that not many drivers care. they behave like internet children and want to get to their destinations now! now! now!

correction DNO one is from Petite Savanne, One from Grand Bay and the other from Loubiere I was at the Scene because I had an aunt two cousins and a few friends involved in the accident.
TOO MANY ACCIDENTS..DOMINICA NNED TO ENFORCE USING SEAT BELTS
I’m not sure if seat belts would have helped here. THis accident was caused by the recklessness of bus drivers. These ppl think that they are carrying bags of meat on their buses and have no regard for their passengers. And I can speak from experience because I have ridden on one of the buses in the accident and I can tell you that this driver always speeds up and wants to race with other buses talking about his bus is a 30 engine.
so the people on the bus couldnt tell the bus driver to slow down? or that he is driving too fast? i’m not taking for the bus driver however, if i’m on a bus and i seeing the driver doing rubbish i will take a stand and remind him (just in case he forgot) that he has passengers on boad. Some bus drivers think the road is theirs(notice i said some). Hmm after they resurface the coastal roads is now all you will hear about accidents, I don’t know if they think its a racing track??
i do not understand why passengers sit on the buses like somke herrings and do not tell the bus drivers how foolish they drive…this is the passengers right! if a bus driver is overtaking foolishly or driving carelessly it’s your right to demand that he/she drives properly or ask him/her to stop for you to get off the bus without issuing any payment because you did not reach your destination because of his/her foolishness!
when i read some coment i just feel the buss driver from g bay the to greedy and most of the time is the passages that pay for it man people like tony and the others know them self don,t need to drive passage they need to drive the grabage truck

our licence should be like the french system with points.and when you lose a certain amout of points you have to go back to driving school and not driving school whee you family teach you to drive on thier car. you must go and seat down in a clas for months then go on the road for a month and then get tested with exams througout your classes and you have to pass all exams.
I don’t understand what is these fellars problem,there is no place in Dominica that takes two days to get to ,so these fellars have absolutly no reasons to drive the way they do.

No amount of warnings/accidents is going to turn a irresponsible driver into a careful one. Overtaking/speeding is like a hobby to some drivers in Dominica. Some fool has obviously told them that if you dont speed or overtake, then you’re not a good driver.
Heavy fines, suspending their license, even imprisonment seems to be the only way to go.
As per usual, all of you are hiding online but never have the guts to take your comments to the Parl Reps or traffic authorities. When will Dominicans stand up for anything in person?
Although the bus drivers are fully responsible for the safety of passengers, the passengers themselves are have the right to ask the bus driver to stop and let them off as I have done in the past.
On numerous occasions I have witnessed other passengers pleading to the driver to drive faster because they had some important business to attend to at their destination.
I have also overheard people saying they won’t ride on a certain bus because
“he drivin’ too slow” and they want to “reach Roseau before de bank close.”
So while we’re blaming the speeding bus drivers every time an accident like this happens, think again why the passengers will prefer to ride with them than those who drive at a safe speed.

I’m very happy to know that no one got kill as a result but the bus drivers of grandbay must always remember that is plp lifes they have in their care.I’m not from grandbay but work there for a couple months and beleive me your life is at risk traveling that route is only God alone that knows how we reaching.I’m aware that is one bus from grandbay that was involve but that does not take away wat i said.Another concern is loud music the bus drivers beleive that is a favour they granting us when we get on their buses they dont have no consideration for passengers,all that can cause accident.I hope somebody read and understand and learn.

i am not going to dis bus drivers cause they are very important workers in our community, but honestly speaking we have some really careless bus drivers in Dominica, they drive toooooooooo fast, they do what they want on government road, as soon as they see passenages they forget about you driving at their back and with no signal they just come to a halt.i mean come on man, they stop in the middle of the road to collect passengers they just do what ever they feel like. some are just typical careless and i think that tickets should be given for careless and extra fast driving as well.

Thank God, fortunately, there are no fatalities. There are times that people have died of their injuries. I hope their injuries are not serious.
Some drivers will never learn that slow and steady, patience, road courtesy and obeying road regulations will win the race.
Now one vehicle may be a total write-off. The driver who is wrong will be held responsible. He will be charged. His license may be revoked if only temporarily in addition to compensating the victims of this accident and paying increased insurance costs. How about their hospital bills?
Drivers, another lesson to learn. Once again, please be careful. Take your time driving on the road. Do not try to overtake other vehicles specifically on a narrow, hilly and winding road. Life and health are precious.

Drivers need to be more careful on the road…. My cousin who was driving the green bus did not get injured but some of the passengers did…. I pray for all of u guys that god will continue to heal u all and guide you all through the right paths…. The X~mas season is jus around the corner so please take caution….

I have had my time with one, did not ride them very often but when I did, is always a problem because I would not sit and have someone drive me like I am a box of banana, ridiculous…..
there were no fatalities, and only one bus got pretty messed up BUT the fact remains that people are not cargo or an other REPLACEABLE item! take care with people’s lives! just look at what happened in st.Lucia…..when will we learn….God bless those who are hurt and i wish them speedy recovery
