A New York City apartment building exploded into huge flames on Wednesday morning with 16 reported injured.
According to media reports residents heard a large explosion near Park Avenue and 116th Street in East Harlem at around 9:00 am on Wednesday.
It is reported that one five-story building was reduced to rubble.
Media reports indicate the blast was so powerful it knocked groceries off the shelves of supermarket.
A nieghbouring building was also severely damaged.
TV news footage shows smoke billowing from the area.
A bomb squad and the FBI are on the scene.

So far three women are dead and over 60 injured. I is said to be a gas leek. Tenants was smelling it the day before and that morning, they called the gas company, time they got there it was too late. Actually it is two buildings that are leveled. The building had tons of violations. Greed is everywhere. Everyone want money, but they don’t like to fix anything or work hard. Innocent people always pay for the guilty.
I live in NYC and it is not always a bed of roses.’ A stitch in time saves nine’. Too much love of money and no love for each other, and we die and leave everything behind. We have some in Dominica too.
How sad. It was due to a gas leak which caused the explosion. Someone telephoned the fire department pertaining to a gas leak. By the time they arrived the building was already in flames.
I also heard two people died, some are injured and approximately 16 are missing. It is not known if the missing were in the building or not. Some may have left early for work or to shop.
This occurred so quickly. We never know when disaster will strike. May the souls of those who died R.I.P.
My friend lives in the second building that was partially damaged. It appears to be a gas leak. Thank God this didn’t happen at night when more people would have been home.

Is this the begging of a new attack ? because a plane is still missing with act of terrorism still not ruled out.
What is sad and worst, the plane is not yet located. Those poor grieving relatives. May God console them.
It is also not known if there was an act of abduction. It is reported that the plane appeared to have turned around. The authorities are ruling out nothing probable.
May God assist those who are involved in trying to discover the area where (if) the plane went down to locate it.
