Dominica’s Carib Affairs Minister Ashton Graneau says an accident in Havana involving the country’s Cuban Ambassador Charles Corbette is sad news for government, the Carib Territory, family, friends and the country at large.
Dr. Corbette is currently at a hospital in Cuba nursing serious injuries as a result of a traffic accident that occurred Wednesday.
It is believed that Dr. Corbette sustained injuries in his head and chest after the vehicle in which he was riding in collided with a tree after it ran off the road.
Local authorizes are still trying in the process of collecting intelligence information as it pertains to the tragic accident and Graneau said “government is praying for his speedy recovery”.
According to Graneau, “all we know is that he is at a top hospital in Cuba after the accident. It is very sad for all of us in the Carib Territory because he just left us to take up his new position. I want to sympathize with his family. I have spoken to a few of them who are very sad about the news. We are wishing him well. We want to see him again,” he added.
He said he has the confidence in the Cuban health system.
“I know he had surgery last night and I have faith in the Cuban health system o we know that they will do their best,” he said
Dr. Corbette worked with the Carib Affairs Ministry for 10 years.

I read about it on Sympatico.ca. It was stated that it was raining. If so, the road/street was slippery. It is easy for vehicles to run off the road at such a time and it happens so quickly.
Cuba has excellent medical care. I wish him well. May the Lord be with him and pull him through to restored health in time.
May He also be with his family who are saddened by his injuries.

Get well Dr Corbs as i ususally call you. My prayers are with you my brother. Hold strong.
Sorry to hear of your injury. Hope you survive this accident and can fuction normally after.
Do yourself a favor, the next time WEAR A SEAT BELT.
… how you know if he wasnt wearing a seat belt?.. you cannot just jump to conclusions…
The type of injuries he was reported to have suffered seem to be consistent with what one would suffer if they wear not wearing a seat belt. Besides, it is a well known fact that the rate at which people wear seat beltsw is very low. Now do the math.
The man is injurred, but it does not mean we cannot learn something from it to reduce injury to others later. You can learn something from everything.
That should be: The rate of seat belt usage in the Caribbean is very low.
My thoughts are with the family and friends of Dr Corbette, and wish him a speedy recovery.
We were not there, so we should not speculate if he was/was not wearing a seat belt.

Nuestros oraciones estan contigo senor, y su familia. Oramos que supere sus lesiones y recupera rápidamente. La gracia de Dios esta contigo tambien.
